White Chocolate Peppermint M&M Cookies
Updated March 26, 2019
All of the special holiday treats are in the stores and I’m having too much fun baking. I made Chocolate Peppermint Crunch Cookies earlier this week and now I give you White Chocolate Peppermint M&M Cookies.
I found the White Chocolate Peppermint M&M’s at Target, the store that makes me buy more than what’s on my list. I think Target has little invisible fairies that add things to my cart. When I get to the cash register I am always surprised by what’s in my cart. I am too embarrassed to take things back, so I always buy what the fairies put in my cart. I am glad they put White Chocolate Peppermint M&M’s into my cart because they made some very tasty and festive cookies.
The M&M’s are good on their own, but even better in cookie form. Isn’t everything better in cookie form? 🙂 I added crushed candy canes and white chocolate chips to the cookie dough too. These cookies are loaded with holiday cheer!
The cookies are soft with a slight refreshing crunch from the candy canes. The White Chocolate Peppermint M&M’s add a big pop of color and are the stars of the cookies. When Josh saw the cookies he thought I made University of Utah Cookies-his alma mater. Their colors are red and white, so I guess they could be Ute cookies, but they really are Christmas cookies.
If you are out shopping and see a bag of White Chocolate Peppermint M&M’s, let the fairies sneak a bag or two into your cart. You will thank them later. Especially if you make these White Chocolate Peppermint M&M Cookies. They are a great holiday treat!
White Chocolate Peppermint M&M Cookies

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
- 1 cup White Chocolate Peppermint M&M's
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper and set aside.
- 2. Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and set aside.
- 3. Cream butter and sugars together in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until combined. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. Stir in the white chocolate chips, candy canes, and M&M's.
- 4. Drop heaping tablespoonfuls of dough on prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. Transfer cookies to wire rack and cool completely.

Kids will love these cookies. Their very delicious and fun!
Ive never seen those M & Ms at Target – but I know what you mean about the fairies putting things in your cart in that store 🙂
Good looking cookies, Maria!
I love how you added the crushed candy cane in there too. What a pretty cookie. Darn those fairies 😉
I have a bag of those m&m’s waiting to be used! Your cookies are lovely, as always! And yes, everything is better in cookie form!
Yummy! I bought the same chips at Target!!! The only problem is, is keeping my hands out of the bag long enough so I can get a batch of cookies out of it! 🙂
What an awesome cookie! You rock my cookie-world!
yum! love peppermint in cookies!
So cute and festive! I need to find those M&Ms today.
Perfect for christmas – i love the festive colors!
These look so pretty! They’d be perfect for a cookie exchange or a holiday open house. Thanks for sharing, I didn’t even know the peppermint M&Ms existed!
Maria, these cookies are so FUN I love all the colors for the holidays!
When I first tried those m&ms I immediately thought they’d be great in a cookie. So thanks so much for this recipe! I’ll be making them this weekend.
I saw these at Target and thought, I bet Two Peas and a Pod will be coming out with a recipe to make cookies with these!! 🙂 Looks delicious!
I have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM at Target. Weird. 🙂 These look sooooo tasty!
If we had Target in Canada (soon!) I would have bigger problems than fairies! I haven’t seen these M & Ms yet but will be sure to pick up a bag if I do! Cookies look delicious!
These fairies might have accidentally added these white chocolate peppermint m&ms to your cart, but what they didn’t realize was that you would create such a wonderful cookie from them! They look scrumdibiliyumtious (sure, I guess that’s how you spell it) and the perfect addition to any Christmas Cookie platter!
Looks great. Did you get hot chocolate too?
Makes me think of peppermint bark! 😉
oh they sound good, but look adorable.
you know it was so hard to find those M&M’s.
Finally did a a far from home Target.
Now I can make cookies!
A chocolate version of these would be yummy as well.
Those fairies snuck a bag of these M&Ms into my cart too! I love how big your cookies are, makes me want to get out my muffin top pan!
How fun! I love those m&ms! I have a cookie recipe using them next week. Now I can link to yours too! woohoo!
Target does the same thing to me! 🙂 These look soo good.
These sound amazing! Peppermint is my favorite holiday flavor…I love it the most, even more than pumpkin and gingerbread 🙂
I need to get my hands on a bag of these M&M’s – they sound awesome! Target is pretty much the most dangerous store ever 🙂
The texture of these looks absolutely perfect, Maria!
I really hope I can get my hands on some of these seasonal M&Ms! they sound like an addiction waiting to happen.
Great flavors for a cookie and I love the chewyness of them 🙂
I want to eat these cookies now! I have wanted to buy those M&M’s, but have been holding out. Not sure I will have the will power anymore 🙂
Wow, these look so yummy. I love peppermint in everything during the holidays. Will probably double the peppermint and leave out the M&Ms.
Oh, wow! I didn’t even know they make those M&Ms. Sounds heavenly!
Ugh i have been trying to find those m&m s and cant. Looked at target last night and ours did not have them
These look like the perfect cookie to leave for santa!
These M&Ms have crack in them. We are obsessed in our family…
They’re too dry. I just made the dough and 3 c flour is way too much.
Hmm, I love white chocolate cranberry cookies around Christmas time!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The day after you posted this, I googled “white chocolate peppermint cookies”, because I had a cookie party to go to, and wanted to make something that reflected the season. Boy was I happy when you’re recipe popped up! I made no adjustments to your recipe and they were DE-LISH! Everyone loved them! I look forward to trying and learning new recipes from you! Thanks again! And Happy Holidays!
So happy you liked the cookies!
OMG, I need to stay away from Target if these little babies are out! I wish I could say they’d make it home for me to make these cookies, because they do look divine, but I’d probably eat the whole bag on the way home. Love the addition of candy canes!
What a great excuse to buy extra peppermint m & m cookies!!!
Very yummy cookie! But I was having a chocolate craving, sooooo I used a chocolate cookie recipe instead. They are very very yummy and pretty too. Haven’t made it to Target to get the m&m’s listed in this recipe so I had to use the chocolate mint m&m’s. I added white chocolate chips to the batter and sprinkled (smooshed) the candy canes & mint m&m’s on top. Divine!!!
Glad you liked the cookies!
Love the festivity… I can only imagine how yummy they are! Thanks for sharing!!
Oh goodness! I cant wait to get my hands on one of those bags of M&Ms! And now I want these cookies too
Fun and festive. Perfect for a Christmas platter!
My flattened out wayyyy too much and were more crunchy than anything 🙁
Was your butter too warm? They have a slight crunch from the candy canes, but they shouldn’t be all crunch.
Can I use salted butter?
Yes! You may want to reduce the amount of salt you use. It just depends if you like a kick of salt!
I agree with Kristen. For some reason these cookies turned out too dry. 🙁 But I will give them another try and change some of the measurements next time.
Sorry they came out dry for you. We haven’t had any problems. Try reducing the flour a bit.
I followed the recipe to a T, and they did not come out flat like the picture shows. They were thick, and cakey, rather than flat and chewy. I used 2 1/2 cups of flour, and only used 1/4 t of baking soda. After I did that they came out just like your picture. They are wonderful cookies! Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Hey two peas!
I’ve made these cookies twice now, and can not for the life of me get them as thin and flat as yours look. I tried cutting back on flour a bit and that helped ever so slightly, but mine turn out puffy and raised, never falling flat and gooey. Any advice? I’ll keep making them until they look like yours, bc each batch keeps getting better! They’re so good.
Hi Abby! Sorry you had trouble with the cookies. You can try reducing the flour to 2 1/2 cups. Hopefully that will help! I didn’t have a problem and I used 3 cups of flour.
Ha, should have read all the comments (right above mine) before typing! Good to know, will try the same.
Made these this weekend – didn’t add the candy cane pieces to the cookies but the mint M&M’s and chocolate chips are awesome. Thanks for all the great recipies.
These cookies sounded really yummy, however I am unable to find that variety of M & M’s anywhere. Checked major supermarkets and even the chain drug stores, which sometimes carry different items…but no luck.
I live in New York State, so maybe it’s availabilty is only in certain regions of the country.
Will keep looking. :-))
These were a huge hit at work! Thanks for all the time you put in on these recipes!
These cookies will be my downfall. I made them tonight and they are delicious! Thank you!
@Dawn: I live in Nassau County, Long Island & was in Target today where they had 4 shelves full specifically of white chocolate peppermint M & M’s today (12/16/12). Of course I had to buy 2 bags, 1 for this recipe (which I can’t wait to make!) & 1 for just snacking on :). Hope this message helps & wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!!
Sorry the above comment was for Janice!! oops!!
these look super yummy! thanks for posting 🙂
do you know how long they will hold? and do you keep them refrigerated after baking or room temp? i’m just wondering because i plan on making a lot for my coworkers and i’m wondering how far in advance i can make them
They will stay fresh for 2-3 days in an air tight container on the counter. Enjoy!
Just made these tonight! Love the mint white chocolate! I didn’t have candy canes and I did 1/2 cup each white and milk chocolate chips and they are delicious! Also, I only did 1 tsp vanilla because 1 tbsp seemed like a LOT and they still came out great! Awesome idea!
These were kinda dry, but very tasty! I will next time only use 2 1/2 cups of flour! But thank you for the delicious recipe!
I made these cookies and loved them! Can’t wait to blog all about these tasty cookies! Thanks for another creative recipe!
These were delicious! Thank you so much for the recipe!
Made these when you posted & they are super tasty. Those peppermint M & M’s are magical & so festive looking. Thanks for sharing!
I made these last week and they were outstanding! I actually only put the M & Ms in and left out the candy canes and white chocolate chips because I thought they’d be too rich for me. I have to say they were fantastic with just the white chocolate peppermint M & Ms. Thank you for this yummy recipe. I hope white chocolate peppermint M & Ms are back again next holiday season! I am making another batch of these today to share with family tomorrow.
Merry Christmas!
Made these for the 1st time today. WOW!!!! Sooooo good!!!!! I did cut the flour down to 2 1/2cups just from reading all the reviews. They came out perfect. Just FYI, you MUST use parchment paper with these. My first batch was directly on the cookie pan & the little bits of candy cane made the cookies stick so bad to the sheet. Used parchment from then on. I made 5 cookies this year & this one got the #1 vote from my family today. This will definitely be an annual Christmas cookie for me!!!!!
I tried to make these but they did not turn out! they melted to the sides and the candy fell into the middle! I know I used the correct amount of butter but it seemed like there was way too much. I used a nonstick cookie tray. Was that the problem? Or was my flour bad? confused
I made these (without white chocolate chips) and they turned out great. This holiday baking season, I learned that soft room temp butter is definitely key when baking cookies! I didn’t love the peppermint M&Ms on their own, but they are just fantastic in these cookies!
I made these a few weeks ago for a cookie swap and they were a big hit. I wish I had read all of the blog post so that I would have known to find the candy at Target. i saw the cookies and went straight for the recipe. After looking at several stores I told my mom that Target probably had them and sure nuff they did. Thanks for the great recipe!
Just made these and they are delicious!! I didn’t add the M&M’s though because 1. I’m not fond of M&M’s in my cookies and 2. I didn’t want to drive around town looking for them. Still, the cookies came out very good. I only put in 1 teaspoon of vanilla because I thought 1 tablespoon was a lot. 🙂 Is it really supposed to be 1 tablespoon?
I love vanilla, so I added a tablespoon, but you can certainly cut back:)
Thank you for the recipe. My son is allergic to regular chocolate but can eat white
chocolate. When I saw the white chocolate m&m’s I was planning on making cookies with them. I was not really sure how I was going to make them till I saw your recipe.
Thanks again.
So good! Everybody loved them
I don’t usually comment on blogs (even though I should b/c I use all of my recipes from them) but these cookies were AMAZING! I did only 2 1/2 cups of flour…baked for the 10 minutes. So soft & delicious. My Mom said they were her “new favorite cookie” & I’m bringing them in for the office tomorrow. THANK YOU!
Just made these today with milk choc chips instead of white and yummmm. I used less flour right off the bat and they turned out great! Thanks for the recipe!
Oops i forgot to add that my target is always out of those m&ms but i found Mint ones at walmart and paired them with milk choc chips and the crushed candy canes and very delish!
Going to try these right now. Target had them 70% off .95/ bag! If they turn out, I may have to go back for more!! I did buy 5 bags though and they had a ton left yet!
I do a ton of baking so I was skeptical about 3 cups of flour in a drop cookie recipe. I have to agree with the comments that 3 cups is way too much. I followed the recipe EXACTLY as listed and my cookies looked nothing like those pictured. They were much drier and puffier and I’m quite disappointed. If I do make these again I will definitely use less flour.
Your cookies are nice and flat, why are mine so puffy? They still taste delicious!!
Very disappointing.the cookies where hard and greasey at the same time. I threw them out. What a waste.
These cookies taste great, I wouldnt have thought to do the candy canes and mint m & ms. However, like most other reviews said, its far too much flour and these cookies are more cake like instead of the pictures.
If I omit the m&m’s, do I need to increase the amount of white chocolate chips or candy canes?
You can add a little more chocolate chips if you want.
I’ve made these for years and they’re my favorite and a huge hit with anyone that tries them. Sadly the white chocolate peppermint M&M’s have been discontinued. Do you have any recommendations on what might be a comparable replacement?
Mint M&M’s??
