Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Updated March 26, 2019
We are in California right now. Last week, we attended a blogging event with Dole in Monterey and this week we are hanging out with Josh’s family. We are having a great time and Caleb has been such a good baby.
I am currently obsessed with California’s strawberries. There is a strawberry stand on almost every corner. The strawberries are freshly picked and so delicious. I made this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt before we left for California and I want to make it again with all of these yummy California berries.
Frozen yogurt is probably my second favorite treat-cookies will always be number one:) I could eat fro yo every day in the summer…and most days I do! We love going out for soft serve, but I also love making it at home. It is so easy! You only need four ingredients to make this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt-strawberries, Greek yogurt, sugar, and lemon juice. I use Chobani 0% plain yogurt and it works great! The frozen yogurt is creamy and smooth.
Find some juicy strawberries and make this Strawberry Frozen Yogurt. It is the perfect cool down treat for a hot day!
And on a side note-I went to Trader Joe’s on Monday and I am madly in love with that store. I wanted to buy one of everything, but unfortunately I don’t have that much room in my suitcase. I did buy some coconut oil, cookie spread, a cookie spread candy bar, sweet potato chips, and a few other random things. I might have to stop in one more time before we go home. I really wish we had a Trader Joe’s in Utah!
And another side note-today is Josh’s birthday! Yay! We are going out to dinner with family and making his favorite Key Lime Tart for dessert! Happy Birthday Josh! We love you!
Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Ingredients
- 1 pound strawberries rinsed, hulled, and sliced
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Place the sliced strawberries in large bowl with the sugar. Stir until sugar begins to dissolve. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Place the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Add the yogurt and fresh lemon juice. Pulse until strawberries are smooth.
- Chill mixture for at least 1 hour, then freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Hmm! This must be so nice when it’s a warm and sunny day. I think my brother would die for it! 🙂
Yay! Happy birthday Josh! A perfect way to celebrate!
How easy is that? 🙂
Monterey is my home town and I miss it — thanks for taking me with you!
This is definitely worth breaking out the ice cream maker for! I love that you used greek yogurt in this – kind of a healthy treat!
I’m a frozen yogurt addict but homemade sure would save me a lot of money:-) Love this.
That looks and sounds amazing. I’m currently living in South Korea and Korean strawberries are the most incredibly sweet strawberries I’ve ever had … even better than the ones I had when living in CA. Truly. If you ever come to South Korea, look for strawberries!
How fun! It sounds like California is awesome! 😀 This fro yo looks fantastic. I’m loving the fresh and sweet strawberries that are in season right now. So tasty! 😀 Lastly, happy birthday Josh!
P.S. Thank you for including me in your link up! 😀
Such a nice treat. I love strawberry anything!
I found a recipe sort of like this (but add some rum to the berries!!) and it is just perfect for a hot summer night. Sweet and tart, yummy!!
yum, I think hubby would love this!
Oh, I need to make this! I bet it’s delicious with the greek yogurt!
Yummy recipe BUT say no to california strawberries unless they are organic. California has stepped backwards in time and approved a pesticide (fungicide, actually) that is so harmful we might as well go back to DDT. You don’t have to believe me; google California pesticides.
Happy Birthday Josh!!
I adore this simple treat – quick question, I find when I make frozen yogurt or home made ice cream , its perfect right out of the ice cream maker but when I freeze it, it gets really really hard. Would you know why this happens or how to prevent it?
I live in So Cal, so we are eating local strawberries every single week! I can’t wait to make this treat for a hot day! BTW, your pictures are just BEAUTIFUL!!
This looks so incredibly delicious. I truly cannot wait to make it.
And…Happy Birthday, Josh!
Frozen yo0gurt may be my most FAVORITE treat. I’ve never homemade it. This sounds so good. Glad you guys are having fun in cali
Happy birthday, Josh!! I love this recipe for yogurt. I’m planning on buying some fresh strawberries and trying it out soon.

Wonderful recipe! I need to invest in an ice creamer maker so I can make this!! Yum!!
Pretty! We just made chocolate ice cream last night. Must be getting closer to summer!
This is so pretty! I just got the ice cream maker attachment, can’t wait to make it!!
Love making frozen yogurt! I don’t have to feel so guilty for eating all of it!
I can hardly believe how great this looks…this blows anything store bought out of the water!! I am a huge fan of frozen yogurt, so this needs to happen SOON!!
And a happy birthday to your sweet husband. So glad you guys are enjoying some time away!!
This makes me so sad that I don’t have n ice cream maker… 🙁
Lovely Maria!
And Happy Birthday Josh!
I love the tangy flavor yogurt adds to frozen desserts and strawberry is my favorite!
I grew up in California–Monterrey was always our vacation place of choice. I totally wish we had a Trader Joe’s here too. I miss it! Let’s start a petition when you get home!
Love the idea of using Greek yogurt in this. It sounds wonderful, and such a pretty color! We don’t have a TJ’s in Colorado either, I hate missing out on all the yummy stuff everyone blogs about!
I just made this recipe on Saturday. And yes, it is awesome!
This frozen yogurt sounds so perfect… and easy! Happy birthday to Josh! 🙂 Also… I’m glad I’m not the only one missing out on TJ’s. The closest is well over an hour away which isn’t ideal at all.
Happy Birthday Josh! If you’re anywhere near the ranch, give us a holler and come by!
Which ice cream maker do you use?
I wish we were closer so we could visit the farm! Someday we have to make a trip! This is the ice cream maker we use: http://astore.amazon.com/twpeanthpo-20/detail/B0007XOHN6
I’m with ya! I could eat frozen yogurt everyday; I love it. My all time favorite treat is frozen chocolate covered banana. Would love to see a post about that! 🙂
Have fun in CA and if I were you, I’d just buy another suitcase and go to TJs and go wild 🙂 Okay maybe not but ya know. Glad you’re having fun here!
I would love some of that on this hot day… yum!
This is so summery! I really need an icecream maker 🙁
I’m coming to your house for fro-yo, key lime tart, cookies, and whatever you got at Trader Joe’s!! I’m with you, Trader Joe’s needs to come to Utah!
happy birthday to josh! hope you guys have a great time celebrating 🙂
Yum! I love Fro-Yo, and I could definitly eat it every day too! Thanks for this easy recipe!
I’ve had this on my to-make list for way too long! i think it’s high time I make it happen!!! 🙂
This looks so yummy and I can’t wait to try it! I’m going to use Dannon Greek Yogurt though since Dannon has a plant in West Jordan and buys all their milk from local farmers and employs hundreds of Utahns.
Enjoy California and all our strawberries! And Happy Birthday to Josh!
omgosh, i will definitely try this! & HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH! 😀
This is so pretty- my kids will love it!
We are going into winter, even the sun is still here, but we don’t have strawberries anymore, so I have to wait until it’s season again to try this. I really like frozen yogurt…!!!
Such pretty pink fro~yo!!
Yum!! Strawberries are my favorite!
I want some of this now — where is my ice cream freezer?
What a fabulous springtime flavor for frozen yogurt! This looks so delicious and fresh, Maria. Great recipe!

This looks positively delicious, can’t wait for our u-picks to have berries next month! Happy birthday to Josh – hope you’re having a great day celebrating and enjoying CA!
This looks so good! We just bought a ton of strawberries and I hadn’t decided what to do with them! Looks like we’ll be breaking out the ice cream machine this week… Thank you!
I love Fro-Yo too! Our Trader Joe’s is about 45 minutes away, so every time we go, I am tempted to bring home the entire store. I hope you had a wonderful trip and birthday celebration.
I had no idea you don’t have a TJ’s in Utah! If you ever want me to mail you any goods, I’m on it! You’re gonna love that cookie butter chocolate bar. SO GOOD!
I made strawberry ice cream the other day and I think strawberry frozen yogurt is gonna have to be next!
You are so sweet! Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it sometime! I LOVE that store!
This is weird….did you know Trader Joes items are being sold on Amazon??
http://www.amazon.com/Trader-Joes-Speculoos-Cookie-Butter/dp/B007UK1DCW/ref=sr_1_18?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1336609349&sr=1-18
I bought some at TJ’s! Good to know I can find it on Amazon:)
Looks great Maria! Happy Birthday to Josh, hope you guys have fun celebrating 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOSH!! 😀 thanks for being the other pea in the pod, and completing the blog. enjoy that key lime pie!
This looks delicious, I love making my own frozen yogurt!
I guess I’m lucky to have a Trader Joe’s a few blocks away!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!
I could go for a bowl of that cool and creamy strawberry frozen yogurt right about now!
wow, that strawberry frozen yogurt looks both beautiful and delicious! yes, our California strawberries are definitely delicious. Monterey is right next door to me. 🙂
I’ve made all kinds of ice cream but never fro yo. This looks like absolute perfection. Maria!
ive been seeing strawberries on every food blog today! but you’re the first to make froyo 🙂
Monterey! I’ve been there in 1993 and still have a wonderful memory of that area! And I remember a lot of fruits, not strawberries probably because I’ve been there in August!
I love Fro-Yo too and my recipe is very similar to yours!
Greetings from Italy, Simona
Those cookie spread candy bars are delightful! They also have a buttercream filled candy bar… not AS good, but super yummy still! Mmmm, California strawberries, I love them!
Oh my gosh-this looks so easy! I can’t wait to try this!
I make this just with the sugar and lemon juice, but the strawberries look so good in it. This is going to be a weekend requirement.
Gorgeous!!! This looks so refreshing and wonderful
P.S. Congrats again on Cookie Cravings… If you would ever like me to do a giveaway and cook a recipe from the book I’d be happy to 🙂
is there any way to make this without an ice cream maker? … do you recommend a particular one? I have considered buying one, but have very little storage room… but I would love to make my own.
Love this! I love buying fresh California strawberries, too. And fresh oranges in Arizona. Ohhh, this is making me want to go on vacation!
I was just introduced to the magnificence that is TJ’s upon moving to Chicago this past August. I love it. I can’t go in there tooooooo often or else I spend all of my money on things that definitely weren’t on my grocery list!
This looks soooo yummy. Strawberries and me, we have a love affair of sorts 🙂 I JUST moved to utah, and just started my own food blog! I can’t wait to get to know all of you lovely Utah food bloggers! Your food and photos are so enticing!
Welcome to Utah!
California strawberries are definitely worth obsessing over, aren’t they? I always get so excited when I find them in our local grocery store or farmer’s market.
And this frozen yogurt? Oh mercy!
I’m a fro-yo girl too, especially on a hot summer day.
A whole year has passed? He is such a lucky little pea and you two are so blessed.
Celebrate and enjoy. Thanks for the tips on the frozen yogurt.
Amy Ruth
Yum! So fresh and perfect for summer! Thanks for sharing!
I purposely picked extra strawberries this morning just so I could make this frozen yogurt. It is delish!
I need to make the a-sap!
looks delicious Maria!! I’m a huge frozen yogurt fan, and we’ve been eating so much the past few weeks. Sounds like such a fun trip too!
Good news! Salt Lake is getting a Trader Joe’s by the end of the year! http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/money/54248352-79/trader-joe-store-utah.html.csp
What if you dont have an ice cream maker????
Love this recipe. I have more strawberries in my garden than I know what to do with. This is a terrific recipe – and healthy. I double it up. Also I blitz & freeze the strawberries, lemon juice & sugar and then defrost & add the yoghurt at a later point. Greetings from South Africa 🙂
Just made this with organic grass fed non-homogenized yogurt, organic strawberries and organic raw cane sugar. It looks, and smells so good! I have it setting in the freezer now, but I did sneak a taste or two by scraping the bowl. Very, very good. 🙂 Thanks!
this is awesome.FRO-YO is really good and thanks for sharing the recipe.
Can you put it in the freezer as i dont have an ice cream maker? Looks so yummy i dont want to go out to buy one to only use it a handful of times sonif i can put it in the freezer and it turns out the same id definitely do this for my three kids
Did not like this recipe. It was too seeet and it is more like a sorbet. I would use half the strawberries and half the sugar.
I don’t know if it’s just me or if perhaps everyone else encountering issues with
your site. It appears as if some of the written text within
your posts are running off the screen. Can someone else please provide feedback and let me know if
this is happening to them as well? This could be a problem with my browser because I’ve had this happen previously. Many thanks
Hmm…our site looks fine to us and we haven’t heard any other complaints. I will look into it. Thanks for letting us know. Try a different browser to see if it helps!
Just made this for my husband and daughter with food allergies – she hasn’t ever had ice cream until today! She LOVED it!!!
I wish there was a way to reduce the sugar a bit though…
Yes! Finally something about camo phone case.
