Rolo Pretzels
Updated December 27, 2023
You only need 3 ingredients and a few minutes to make these delicious Rolo Pretzels, a favorite sweet and salty holiday treat!
Rolo Pretzels
If you are looking for an EASY treat, you are in the right place because these Rolo Pretzels are beyond easy! I think the hardest part is unwrapping all of the Rolo candies, ha!
We have a few family Christmas traditions: cinnamon rolls, lots of cookies, and Rolo Pretzels. They are a MUST make for Christmas. They are a great addition to any cookie platter or plate and everyone loves them!
The chocolate caramel candy melts onto a salty pretzel, creating a fun sweet and salty treat! Top with a M&M and you have a festive treat in a matter of minutes.
Rolo Pretzel Ingredients
You only need three ingredients to make Rolo Pretzels. I told you this recipe was easy! I like to make 40 Rolo pretzels but you can make fewer or more! Just make sure you have enough ingredients!
- Rolos-chocolate candies filled with caramel. You can find Rolos at almost any grocery store. Look in the candy aisle.
- Pretzels-you can use mini pretzels or small square pretzels. Both work well. If you need the recipe to be gluten-free, you can even use gluten-free pretzels.
- M&M’s-colorful M&M’s are the perfect topping for the Rolo pretzels.
How to Make Rolo Pretzels
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- Unwrap the foil paper from the Rolos. This is a good job for the kids!
- Place the pretzels in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Place one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
- Carefully transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 3 minutes or until the Rolo candies have just started to melt. Don’t go far! It doesn’t take the chocolate long to melt.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and gently press one M&M on top of each Rolo. If you want to make Rolo pretzel turtles, you can use a pecan.
- Let the Rolo pretzels set up until the chocolate is firm. If you want to hurry the process along you can put the baking sheet in the freezer.
- The Rolo pretzels will keep in an airtight container on the counter for one week.
Rolo Pretzel Variations
I like to top Rolo Pretzels with M&M’s. At Christmas time, I reach for red and green M&M’s, but feel free to mix up the colors for any holiday or celebration. You can also mix up the M&M flavors. Rolo pretzels are great with the following M&M’s candies:
- Plain
- Peanut
- Peanut Butter
- Caramel
- Pretzel
- Peppermint
- Dark chocolate
If you don’t want to use M&M’s, you can top the Rolo pretzels with pecan halves. The Rolo pretzels will look like the classic turtle candy.
Rolo Pretzels are fun to make and eat. Kids and adults will go crazy for this sweet and salty treat. Add them to your holiday treat list NOW!

Rolo Pretzels
Equipment
Ingredients
- 40 Mini Pretzels or Square Pretzels
- 40 Rolo candies
- 40 M&M's or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
- Unwrap the foil paper from the Rolos. Place the pretzels in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Place one Rolo on top of each pretzel, making sure it’s in the center.
- Carefully transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 3 minutes or until the Rolo candies have just started to melt. Keep an eye on them, you don’t want them to melt everywhere. It only takes a few minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and gently press one M&M or pecan on top of each Rolo. Let the Rolo pretzels set up until the chocolate is firm.

Seriously killing my diet. Thanks! 🙂
A great idea! Perfect for parties
Cheers,
Rosa
AH! These are TOO cute!
Maria these Rolo Pretzel Treats are so cute and colorful. Love your styling and presentation. xo
OMG!! I’ve made a version of these before with melted hershey kisses and regular m&m’s, but this version is so much better!!
I like M & M anything, and these are so simple and cute!
How cute!!
Rolo is one of my favorite candies. Now I really need to hunt down those M&Ms.
Oh yummy! These look awesome and EASY! I think i’ll make these with the kids this weekend. Thanks!

Chocolate + pretzels + caramel = yummy!!! Love these!
sweet, salty, caramel, chocolate….what’s not to love!
So cute! And addictive, I’ll bet!
I made similar treats for our christmas goodies!! I used Hershey Kisses and plain M&Ms for some and for others I did Rolos with a hazelnut on top. Please don’t hate me, but I just did not like the pretzel M&Ms. They weren’t pretzel-y enough for me. Tasted like a Whopper that wasn’t sweet or something…sorry 🙁 I LOVE chocolate and pretzel together usually tough. You treats look adorable too!!
I can’t get enough of those pretzel M&M’s either. What a cute little treat to satisfy the sweet tooth!!
I’ve got a coupon for a big bag of these M&M’s. Also, I need a little cooking project for my boys and I. “You can roll a roll-o to your pal. It’s chocolate covered caramel. . . ” Thanks!
Oh my gosh Maria, these are so awesome! I’m afraid I could eat the whole plateful myself!
I have had the rolo pretzels before but never with M & M’s. Love those pretzel M & M’s. How’s the kitchen coming?
The kitchen is coming along. It is a lot of work, but worth it already. I am loving the new open floor plan. The hardwood floors are next on the list!
I love these little snacks. And I’m SO glad you love the pretzel M&M’s. I’ve been meaning to try them because my husband is a huge M&M fan, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet! I guess I know what one of his anniversary gifts will be. 🙂
Oh so cute and I love the rolo & M&M pretzel idea. Let’s hope they keep the M&M pretzel version around huh?
What a cute and fun treat!
My MIL makes these at Christmas with kisses instead of the rolos but I love the rolo idea with the caramel, yum!
Yum – these look like a great little treat! A little too easy to pop in your mouth…very dangerous : )
These are adorable! The perfect bite-sized treat.
These are SO good, but I really like pecans with the Rolo’s. I also do peppermint Hershey Kisses (unfortunately a seasonal item) with dark chocolate M&M’s. YUM!!!
The peppermint kisses sound good. I will have to make those for the holidays. Thanks!
Oh my goodness! That is perfection. I am a huge addict to anything sweet and salty, you made me laugh Maria! these are great!
These look so delicious but only have 3 ingredients! I also need that 12 step program – the pretzel m&ms are now my favorite!
What a fun and tasty treat – my kids would really dig these (so would I).
These look fun for kids! Thanks!
Oooh I love pretzels and Rolos, The pretzel M&M’s are a genius additions!
Such a fun treat! Definatley making these with my kids!
oh wow yummy little treats cute
totally adorable and not hurting for taste, either–bravo!
Roles is my daughters favorite candy, will, one of them. I’ll have to try these for her!
Oh my, I need a handfull of these now. I love that you used Rolos and not just Hersey kisses. these look fab!
Wow, what a cute and easy creation. I am going to be making these, pretzel and chocolate is my favorite combo!
Pretzel M&Ms are taking over the internet! Looks like I need to jump on the bandwagon and get myself some!
What darling little cookies! I have just the place to take these little gems to this weekend. Thanks for the recipe 🙂
I cannot even tell you just how addicted to these I am. I tossed them into a blondie recipe tonight with dark chocolate and am in love. Cannot wait to try these! Fabulous idea!
seriously? YUM! gotta try those 🙂
LOL omg i love these!! they are so cute and perfect for a party!
These m&ms seem to be everywhere I look. I think fate is stepping in and I should just break down and buy them already!
chocolate.pretzel.chocolate
another friday’s favorite!
YUM! I LOVE this combo!!! Love the pretzel M & M’s! Heading to the movies in a bit…now I think I need to sneak some in my purse! (Not that I would DO that!)
These are pure evil! I love it!
Oh Maria. I’m kind of sorry I ever saw this post. I’m pretty good at saying no to sweets but I have a huge thing for Rolos. They were one of favorites as a kid and I still love the chocolate and caramel combo. What a perfect treat that is quick and easy. We are having a big party this weekend and there will be two fancy cakes. I’m thinking I will make these too just to balance. I’m guessing these will be the first things to go!
These are so cute and perfect for a party! I’ve been enjoying the pretzel M&Ms too!
I made these for our family reunion but left them home because I couldn’t stand the thought of sharing them with everyone. We tried them with both pretzel M & Ms and Peanut Butter M & Ms. They were both mighty tasty but I liked the peanut butter ones the most. Try it!
Sign me up for the pretzel m&m addiction program!!! I love those things! I have made these before using peanut m&ms but I love the idea of the pretzel m&ms! I am putting this on my “must make” list 🙂
thank you for the FABULOUS recipe! i’m in my third year of medical school and every 5 days we have call which means my team spends 30 hours straight in the hospital…everyone always brings snacks and so i brought these (substituting peanut butter m&ms for pretzel). they were a HUGE hit with everyone – thanks for the great, quick recipe!
So glad you enjoyed this recipe!
I’m totally going to make these!! Rolo’s are my favorite! I love how easy these are!
wpw – i stumbled upon your site today. love it! and i can’t wait to make the pretzel m & m cookies. and the rolo pretzels. and the rolo cookies. it is going to a busy and delicious weekend at the pieroni house. thank you!!
Thank you so much for visiting our site. We hope to see you around often.
I made these today for a tailgate for a concert we’re going to. My friends are going to love them!! I made them with orange and blue m&m’s for my favorite team, the Florida Gators, who will be playing while we are at the concert! 🙂 Thank you for this great idea for a fun and easy snack!!!
You are welcome! Hope you had fun at the concert!
I don’t think there’s a limit to how many M & M’s I could eat in one sitting. My favorite has always been peanut, but pretzel has officially tied it for 1st!!! Love this recipe and best of all, seems super simple, which is always a plus. Thanks!
Turned out just like the picture! That rarely happens for me 😉
What a great idea! I just made these with regular M&Ms for my twin daughters preschool class. I found holiday pretzels at Sam’s Club – they are in the shapes of a star, a bell, and a tree. So cute! It was a simple treat to make and my four year olds were able to help with the whole process. They set out the pretzels, put the rolos on, and pushed the m&ms in! Now, they can say they made the snack for their class. I just found your site and I love it! Thank you for the great idea! 🙂
Okay, now I’m straight up torturing myself. But if you weren’t so creative and inventive and being all “candy whisperer” on me, we wouldn’t have this problem, right?! 🙂 these bites are dang cute!
Had these treats at my daughters house and immediately fell in love with these snacks. Bought all the ingredients and can’t wait to make them for myself (and my husband if he wants some)
I just made these and they are SOOOOOOOOOO good!!!! i wanted to make them for the freezer for unexpected guest but they are so good i had to eat 3 of them – and i’m supposed to be on a diet to lose the 4 lbs i just put on!!!!!!!
Holy moly, yes please! I’ve made these with a pecan on top before, but I like the idea of an M&M way better – especially a pretzel M&M!
I love this recipe! Just FYI, 350 for 4 minutes was waaaaaaay too long for mine! Totally my fault, I should have watched them closer, but just wanted to share to try to keep someone else from making the same mistake. Mine turned out to be a melted mess…a delicious melted mess, but not quite pretty enough to give away like I had hoped!
Sorry about that. It takes ours 4 minutes. I adjusted the time to 2-4 minutes so people will keep an eye on them. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, i too have enjoyed making -and devouring- these treats for years. I prefer the regular M&M’s. I have always softened the treats at 250’F for 10 mins, but will try higher temp next time.
One hint: After applying the M&M/pecan half and giving each one a little smoosh into the melty rolo, i place the entire cookie sheet into the freezer for 10 mins or so, to help them speedily set up. Then i store in sealable plastic box, parchment or waxed paper between layers, placed in frig. Obviously, we are the fans of less-gooey-more-chewy treats. To eat, just take a few (or, in my case, a handful) out of the box and let them sit at room temp for 5 mins or as long as u can resist…
Oops, i should have said 200’F for 5 mins, NOT 10, i must be having Holiday brain freeze!
I am checking out all your other recipes. So glad to find this site!
How long do you think these last stored in a bag or Tupperware? I wanna make them for a party but I don’t know how far in advance I can make them…
Yes, you can made them up to 2 days in advance.
I love Rollos, this seems to be a next generation recipe for the pretzels these. I just like pretzels and chocolate so that’s good with me.
These are delicious, can you freeze them
Do these set enough to put in baggies ?
Yes, after they cool completely you can put them in baggies.
I put mine in fridge that helped.
Awesome recipie
Thanks!
Made them for a friend of mine who can not tolerate Gluten. Gluten free pretzels and Rolls are gluten free. Easy treat gift.
Yay!
I made these and they were good and super easy.
Hi I am anxious to try these pretzel treats! One question…can they be frozen?
This is one of our very favorite holiday treat- Easter we do pastels, Valentine’s Day red! But, I have not been able to find this size pretzel in the stores for about 3 years.
Where might I find this- we live in St.Louis.
I forgot about these. So good. The square pretzels I buy (in Texas) are called Snyder’s Butter Snaps. They are delicious by themselves!
We love those pretzels too!
Have made these before, and are a lot of fun for the kids
I baked them for 3 minutes and then cooled them in the freezer to set. I used regular m and m’s and they tasted great!
I am making these for my sons french class they are having a marti gra party i got purple green and yellow m&ms that match the decorations they are very cute and easy to transport to school
they will last a week, that’s hilarious. I’d eat them all in an hour.
This is one of my favorite Christmas treats! I love how simple they are!

my rolo a day later had white spots all over them what causes this
Weird, were they bad?
That might be blooming. It is caused when chocolate goes out of temper which happens in this recipe. Should be fine. Its cocoa butter separating from the rest of the chocolate.
My 5 year old had fun making these! From unwrapping the Rolos to counting out the pretzels and m&ms, it was a fun activity for a rainy Christmas Eve afternoon
Can these be frozen once they’re baked?
Yes! Enjoy!
Easy!
can these be frozen?
Yes!
We made this with square pretzels, Rolos, M&Ms, and pecans. They were so good. We are going to deliver them to our neighbors along with some cookies for the holidays. Perfect gift!
My boys love making these…and eating them too. We make them every year.
My favorite treat ever!!! I could eat hundreds of these. SO good, easy to make, and always a hit!! I’ve done it with Hershey kisses and mini peanut butter cups too but rolos are my favorite
Mine slid around a bit but super easy & taste great
Today we will be celebrating Veterans Day at our apartment complex. I will be serving these to honor them for their service! I am sure they will like them!
Great recipe but it seems like the temp might be a little too high. Our cashews and pecans sunk iimmediately. We waited several minutes and they were still too soft. So we took the pan outside to cool and that helped a lot.
I will likely try 300 or even 275 the next time.
Still a great recipe!! Thx!
I do 250 to get it warm enough for 2 to 3 minutes. I wait long enough for it to glisten. I was trying to find something new because mine was pretzel and rolo in oven, and once taken out place another pretzel on top. Wait to cool to do half dipped in chocolate and then sprinkles.
Can you use the tiny twist pretzels instead of square?
Also couldn’t find rolos. But found caramello bars.
Would this work?
You can use twist pretzels. I’ve never tried Carmellos. They might ooze out too much? Let me know if you try it!
Easy recipe that’s fun to do with kids! Great for the holidays! I know my oven can run a little hot – so I did 300 for 3 minutes and they were perfect!
It’s important to do these at 300 degrees. Recipe has 350 in one place – that is too hot!
Temperature is supposed to be *250
I haven’t made these but I noticed that the write up says 350 degrees but the recipe is still 300 which threw one baker off and they melted too quickly. Just wanted to let you know. Can’t wait to try them!
Can the pretzel/rolo cookies be frozen? I’m baking for my granddaughters wedding in May using pastel m&ms. Thought these would add some color to the cookie table
Yes!
So delicious! Simple recipe, easy to follow. It’s the perfect hands-on snack for you and the kids to make on a rainy day.
Glad you enjoyed them! Such a fun treat.
I so enjoy your family pictures, your clothing ideas and your wonderful recipes. I’ve made so many of them and received fantastic accolades. Wishing you and your beautiful family a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and New Year. Thank you for always being in my email!
Thank you for following and making our recipes.
To a party, I bring a cake with 18 ingredients that takes hours and and these. What do people beg for more of? These. Five stars.
They are so easy and SO good!
Whatever you do don’t put these in a
350 degree oven for 3 minutes! Soupy mess. Even 2-3min while the oven was cooling off was too much….off to the store and will try again.
