Candied Pecans
Updated March 26, 2019
Candied Pecans-an easy recipe for Cinnamon-Sugar Candied Pecans! They are the perfect topping for salads, main dishes, desserts, or grab a handful for a snack! They are also perfect for gift giving!
I am obsessed with the scented wax melts. I have a drawer full of them and keep buying more when they are on sale. I love trying new scents. I always make Josh and Caleb sniff every scent in the store. Josh humors me and plays along, but usually turns up his nose at 98% of the scents. Caleb usually loves them all and encourages me to buy them…so I do! I want our house to smell good when friends walk in the door!
I am usually drawn to the scents that smell like food…cookies, cupcakes, apple pie, etc. The only problem is they make me hungry:)
I found a new favorite scent and it isn’t from a scented wax melt, it is from baking a batch of Candied Pecans. If you want your house to smell amazing, put a batch of Candied Pecans in the oven! Your neighbors will be knocking on the door to see what is happening in your kitchen. They smell SO good and they taste even better!
I especially love making candied pecans during the holiday months. I love the cinnamon aroma and the candied nuts are perfect for holiday recipes. They are a great topping for salads, main dishes, and desserts! They make everything taste better! They just add something special and that is what the holidays are all about! I also love eating them by the handful. They are crunchy, sweet, and make a great snack!
Candied Pecans are also EASY to make, which is a big time bonus during the crazy holiday months. You can pop a pan in the oven in a matter of minutes. You have to stir them while they are baking, but the smell will keep you close! You won’t want to go far!
Now, I just need to figure out how I can package my Candied Pecan smell in a scented wax melt. I would make millions:) Until then, I will just have to bake a pan of Candied Pecans every day! 🙂
And come back next week because I am sharing two tasty salads that feature candied pecans! You will want to add these salads to your holiday menus. I promise!
Candied Pecans
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups unsalted pecans halves
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, add sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until combined. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg white, vanilla, and water together until frothy. Add the pecans and gently toss until the pecans are well coated. Add the sugar and cinnamon mixture and toss until pecans are covered.
- Spread the pecans out in a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Bake for about 30-45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. The sugar mixture will harden on the pecans.
- Remove from the oven and let the pecans cool on the baking sheet. When completely cool, store in an airtight container for up to 1 month.

I love the idea of making these gift giving from the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas season. They would make a really nice hostess gift for Thanksgiving most of all (not that anything makes up for all that work, but ya know I try). It’s nice to be able to bless lots of people with a sweet gift that doesn’t cost a ton.
My husband and I literally spend HOURS smelling candles in the store! And we light a nice scented one every morning. So that alone is enough to make me want these.
It doesn’t hurt that candied pecans are BOMB. Pinned!
I love candied pecans! Growing up in the south, I’ve ate my weight in them many many holiday seasons. I’ve never thought about giving them as gifts, but they would make a fantastic gift!
Yes please!
Last weekend I broke out a new candle that I want to say was called Christmas Cookie… next thing you know, I’m baking cupcakes because I wanted something sweet. I think I better quit buying that one! LOL
One of my favorite holiday snacks! I like to bring them to work to share around Christmas. Always a big hit!
I bet these really do smell and taste amazing! Can’t wait to make a batch of these. 🙂
How long do you think these would really last? This would be something different – and yummy – to make this holiday season!
Maybe one day at MY house
these really do smell amazing and they are perfect for last minute gifts and snacks and toppings of salad!
Looks awesome! Hey, I think you should keep This and That on your homepage. I popped over to read it and it’s gone now since it isn’t first and it’s a bit hard to find. We like you guys as much as the recipes 🙂
If you go to On the Side at the top, you can find all of our This and That posts!
I Love scented wax too – my favourite is the oatmeal cookie — yuuummm!!
Yes! Yes! Yes! I just found your site yesterday and I’ve already racked up enough recipes to try to keep me cooking until the end of the year. Thank you for the inspiration.
Candied pecans or nuts of any kind are always great for so many things, especially gift giving as you mentioned. Although, pecans are my favorite so I just want to stuff my face with these.
These are fantastic, such great snacks and holiday gifts!
These would make great gifts! But I’m afraid I’d eat them all first. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though 😉
Reminds me of Christmas growing up! My grandmother also made PENUCE which is similar.
My Step-Mother would love these!! Well, me too….but she was my first thought as to gift giving. Pinning it!!
These look so perfect! What a great homemade holiday gift!
Mmmmm! Candied pecans are one of my favorite things ever!!
Oh, can I have some? Please?? They look delicious! Could I make them into a candied nuts mix, with maybe pistachios and almonds? Or won’t they taste as good?
Pecans can be expensive, do you have any tips on where to find them in the Salt Lake Valley?
I watch the sales. Sprouts has good deals sometimes in the bulk bins!
I couldn’t be anywhere near these. I am not sure I could control myself. I love pecans and this type of a treatment is soooooo good. Packaged up cute they make great hostess gifts and even stocking stuffers.
Yes….the smell is amazing! I love it when you walk past one of the street vendors in New York and you try to resist picking up a bag of their sweet roasted pecan or other nut they might be roasting. I love these! I use them on top of sweet potato casseroles and other sweet potato dishes for Thanksgiving. So good!
These look amazing would it be crazy to chop up the candied pecans and add them to some caramel blonblondie cookies

Perfect Dessert for my Vacation 🙂 Thanks!
They look & I’m sure smell & taste wonderful! However knowing me & my entire family, I have my doubt seriously that your panfull might last all of 10 – 15 minutes! I may try making them, then when someone comments, I’ll just tell them that it really IS a candle!!!!
Do you use raw pecans or already toasted pecans?
Can you tell me, would you recommend adding a little heat to these such as some Cayenne? I am thinking of using them as you suggested in your Mexican Wedding Cookies and I thought just a little kick might be nice as we are taking them to a Mexican Fiesta at a local brewery and the spice might add to the flavor and cut the sweetness just a little to go with the beer? any suggestions?
Made these and they came out perfect! We use put them on warm Brie with salted caramel sauce, served with crackers or apples – so good – also on salads and anything else we can think of! Thank you for the recipe!
That sounds so good! Glad you like the recipe!
These are soooo good and too easy! Yikes!!
I will try this recipe, sounds delicious! do you have any same recipes involving walnuts? I have ton of them!
Thank you
Mary
I don’t, but you could try candied walnuts!
I made these over the weekend for coworkers and they LOVED them!
You can buy pecans at Aldi! Super cheap and great quality 🙂
Yay! I wish we had Aldi in Utah!
My family loved the first batch I made for Thanksgiving so much, I just had to make another! My neighbor’s pecan tree produced so many this year, she was generous to let me pick to my hearts content. That was early November & I’m still picking! I raise rescue orphaned & injured squirrels for Gulf Coast Wildlife Resue. I first started picking pecans for them, then found your recipe. We are all delighted. Thank you!
You are welcome! I am jealous of your pecan supply!
I just made these last night and oh.my.goodness! They are dangerously delicious! It’s taking all of my willpower not to eat them all! Going to have to make more to give as gifts their that good! Another great recipe as usual! Thanks!
I made these a couple of days ago, and can testify that they are impossible to resist! I keep finding reasons to go into the kitchen so I can grab a few!
I just made these this morning after years of wanting to, but never taking the time! I can’t wait to enjoy some on a salad for lunch and to give away as Christmas presents!
My family loved these! A new favorite family recipe, thanks!
Have you heard of Scentsy? (Flamless wax warmers and wax melt bars.) They have a scent, Central Park Pralines, that would likely smell very close to these nuts while baking.
I burned a batch of pecans with this recipe by using the recommended temperature and recommended time, though I actually pulled them out about five minutes early because I could smell the burn. The rest, with reduced time in the oven, were better, but I actually prefer another recipe I’ve used that uses only white sugar. That recipe also recommends a temp of 250.
This recipe is based in SLC which has an elevation of 4200′ and requires higher temperatures. If you are cooking these at sea level, a temperature of 250-275 is more appropriate.
At elevations over 3,500 feet, the oven temperature for batters and doughs should be about 25 degrees F higher than the temperature used at sea level. As elevation rises, air pressure falls, which means that bakers living at 3,000 feet (1,000 meters) will see different results than lowland bakers.
Thanks for the great recipe! I used a pound of “fancy mixed nuts” from Trader Joe’s.
hmmm.. I made these for Christmas and my family wasn’t very into them. For one, there’s a little too much cinnamon in (on) them. Also, a little too much salt. I loved the consistency but that was it… probably won’t make them again.
These are even great when you over cook them by 15 min! I shall try them slightly less burned next time.
These are SO addictive! We sampled something similar to these at one of the booths in the farmer’s market. My kids (five years old) LOVED them. So, when we got home I did a quick search and found your site. Quick, easy and delicious. Thank you for a yummy treat.
I over cooked my candied pecans what can I do to help them
The temp was too high, after 25 minutes the ones all around the outside were burned 🙁 and I stirred every 10 minutes instead of 15.
The flavor of the unburned pecans was AMAZING, though. So, I’ll play with the temperature a little next time. I love the saltiness of them as well, it definitely complements the cinnamon.
Whoa!!! Whoa!! let me tell you.. my neighbor a fews ago made these for me and my daughter for Christmas. I though we were about to be on the NEWS , we were fighting over these things.. They are so Delicious. Never heard of them Never had them. I found a recipe and I made them for a few people, They Love them. Only draw back Whoa!!! Pecans are expensive!!! But Worth it..
Hi there! 🙂 I just made these and the nuts burnt after 30 min but the coating didn’t harden. Do you know what I did wrong? The recipe looks delicious so it’s obviously just either me or my misbehaving oven 🙁 should I bake at a lower temperature to get the coating set up? Or maybe use more sugar next time? Haven’t tried one yet but I’m sure they’ll still be tasty!! Thank you!!
I made this and agree with some others, that I will lower the temp next time. How long will these be “fresh” tasting after putting in airtight containers? I would like to make these ahead of time and package them as gifts.
They will keep for 1 month in an airtight container.
I would recommended dropping the temp down to 275…my first batch burned within the first 20 minutes. Next batch baked at 275 for 45 minutes total in increments of 15 minutes and stirring
Why would you bother saying “Lasts up to one month”? Like THAT is going to happen! (One week max in my house!, maybe less!) These are awesome.
Ha! They never last long at our house:)
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I am addicted to this recipe. It is the best flavor and so easy….
I have made this recipe multiple times and these are simply delicious. I’m a caterer and I use the pecans specifically for my apple gorgonzola salad. Needless to say, often times we graze on the pecans and finish them before they ever make their way onto a salad, so this recipe is always nearby. Thank you for sharing it! P.S. – People… DON’T change a thing in the recipe. It’s perfect as it is. But DO check your oven often if you don’t trust it for any reason cuz these babies will burn quickly if not attended.
I used this recipe for my WEDDING Favors at each place setting. My fiance (now husband) and I tried a few recipes an decided that this one was the winner. We baked 15 pounds of these candied pecans and packaged them into cute little favor baggies. The guests loved them and were amazed that they were homemade. Added bonus – they are as economical as they are delicious.
I am so happy you liked our recipe enough to make them at your wedding! Thanks for letting us know. Best wishes to you!
Yankee candle makes a candied pecan tart that is out of this world. So if you want to have your favorite fragrance with out the cooking go for it..I can’t wait to try your recipe.thanks.
Last year, these were the final treat that we made (after the cookies and special Christmas bread). We had some leftover walnuts and almonds, so we mixed them in with the pecans. They were just as delicious!
Thanks for a delicious candied pecans recipe! I am giving away two portions of this as gifts and then used some of the remaining pecans in your candied pecan chocolate chip cookies recipe. And there are still pecans left over. Looking forward to making these again around Christmastime.
I definitely had an amazing flavor taking them out at the half hour mark. These are THE best. Add some nutmeg and you won’t be sorry.
Maria, would I have to change anything if I did half walnuts and half pecans?
You can use walnuts, no need to change anything.
After having apple salads at Wendy’s this past weekend, I decided to make candied pecans so we can have these delicious salads at home. Have them in the oven as I am typing. So far they have been ridiculously easy to make … which is a plus. Coming up on first stir. First stir … OMG smell like fresh cinnamon rolls baking. Slobbered on my shirt ☺️ Second stir. Oh the Devine smell, I am in a constant drool Last bake I am only doing 10 min, don’t want to burn them. Ok, yes, I also can’t wait to eat some. Burned my tongue a little on the first one. Absolutely heavenly! Only issue I see is that I should have used 2 bags of pecans. Sad my family won’t get to try some
These are soooo good! I add a wee bit more cinnamon because you can’t ever have too much. It would be great for gifts…if you can bring yourself to share them.
I needed a substitute for pecan pralines for s cheesecake topping. I chopped the pecan but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. They are perfect and delicious!
I’ve made this recipe dozens of times! So that means I’ve visited this page dozens of times!! Think I might have it memorized now 😉 Family and friends request these nuts as I make tons and gift them in mason jars. A thoughtful and homemade gift everyone loves! So just a note to say THANK YOU for this amazing recipe!!!
Hi. I would love to try these.. if I halved the recipe, how much do you suggest I adjust the time/temp?
Great Recipe! Easy and delicious. My family snacks on these and gobbles them right up. First batch some of the pecans burned; I did the full 45 minutes. However, the 2nd batch turned out much better. I baked them for only 36 minutes. Perfect! You might want to put a “warning” in the actual directions. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
What would u use in place if the gee white for vegan??
So good and easy to make! Everyone wanted the recipe!
Hi
Goi ng to make them
Yes, I tried to make these. But at 300° and only 30 minutes , they burnt. I made these last year and the came out beautiful . What did I do wrong ?
At 300°and only 30 minutes , they burnt. What did I do wrong ?
Weird, I have never had them burn and I have made them a million times. Maybe your oven is off?
I’ve been making these for folks since 2013 and everyone raves about them! They disappear very quickly. Thanks for the great recipe/
These are the best candied pecans I have ever made. They are so delicious, I can hardly wait for them to cool to eat them. I have made them several times now, and everyone ask me if I will make them a batch for the present. The very first time I made them, I was simply amazed at how it made the whole house smell so yummy!
For sure double this recipe. These are super good and really easy. I think next time I’ll use my good salt and up the measurement just a tad for a little more salty & sweet. But I made them according to the recipe and they are delicious as is. will definitely be making again. and again.
Made these with pecans I had left over from Xmas baking. Can’t stop eating them!
These was such a hit for my family at Christmas!!
Yay! So happy to hear!
These are super yummy and easy. I combined the sugar mixture in a gallon Ziploc bag and tossed the egg coated nuts that way. I will defintely save this recipe! Thanks.
I made that recipe for Christmas and it was a big success in my family! Even people not really into sweets and sugar were drawn to the bowl and it didn’t last very long! And ohhhh, the smell while they were in the oven… A-MA-ZING!
I have made this recipe for my church function and it was a hit. Everyone loved it. Thank you for this recipe.
The candied pecans recipe is excellent. I made them for Christmas and I am making them again, my family loves them. Thank you for the recipe it is easy and enjoyed!
Glad they were a hit!
I have made these twice now and the recipe is delicious! Makes a great gift!
My go to candied nut recipe! Sooooo good!!
These pecans are delicious and a perfect addition to a Summer salad made with spinach, baby greens, fresh strawberries, feta cheese with a balsamic dressing.
Great recipe I’ve made 3 batches in 1 week because I can’t stop eating them. Like red hots I put these s%#ts on everything!
I just made these for the little cafe where I work. Delicious. Thank you for sharing!
Excellent couldn’t wait for it to come out of the oven. Easy and delicious
I made these for a sweet table for my son’s wedding. They didn’t last till the wedding I will be making a triple batch and hiding them along with a couple of other family favorites like Carmel corn. We were looking for sweets that were easy to handle and that would stand up to the September Florida evening heat these are among family favorites that fit the bill.
I made the candied pecans. They turned out great. Each time I make
them they get better n better. I’ve made them 6 times already. I love to snack on them. Thanks for the recipe.
Thanks so easy !
These are the BEST pecans I ever had. They just melt in your mouth. Took them to game night with friends. Everyone loved them. One guy had to move them to another table because he couldn’t stop eating them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So good!! Only wish I could get about 2-3X more of the candy coating on there somehow. But these are wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!
Thank you for this recipe. I’ve already made them three times. Sadly, we did not give them away-WE ATE THEM!!
I made these today for a cookie exchange, baking is not really my gig. OMG they are greatness. Thank you!
I come back to this recipe for Candied Pecans year after year. In my case, 300 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring every 10, is perfect. Especially at Christmastime, they’re tasty hostess gifts, family gifts, party favors, appetizers… Every person I’ve given them to, young and old, raves about them. Many ask for the recipe and I direct them here. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!
Question about the amount of pecans. It states 16 oz (about 4 cups) but 16 oz is 2 cups.
Hi Johanna, I believe you are referring to fluid ounces vs ounces. Yes, you are correct in that 16 fluid ounces = 2 cups, however, 16 ounces (weight) of pecans = 4 cups.
Just made these today to use as topping for the ice cream I made with my KitchenAid attachment.
Delicious!!
Is it better to roast the pecans first ? Have heard yes an no so wanted to get your opinion
Thank you
no when I did it it was fine without roasting but its up to you
I made these for the first time this past Christmas. I used just pecans that time. I added a touch of orange extract instead of vanilla. The second time I made them I put half pecans & half cashews. They turned out great. The other day I wanted more so I looked every where. I was dismayed when I could not find the recipe. I found yours which is the same. Today I am going to make them & this time I will include pistachios. I find that the coating is just the right amount.
My oven is down. Can I make it in the stove top?
Just before I put these in the oven, I drizzled the pecans with an aged Balsamic vinegar…!
It worked, just a hint of sour made these spectacular.
My friends and family cannot get enough of this recipe. These are absolutely delicious.
Should I even bother cooking them without parchment paper? Could I use aluminum foil?
Hi why do we need to use vanilla extract?
the recipe is great just asking
Can you tell me, would you recommend adding a little heat to these such as some Cayenne? I am thinking of using them as you suggested in your Mexican Wedding Cookies and I thought just a little kick might be nice as we are taking them to a Mexican Fiesta at a local brewery and the spice might add to the flavor and cut the sweetness just a little to go with the beer? any suggestions?
I think cayenne would be a great addition for a little kick!
These are amazing!
I made a similar recipe in the crock pot, but these are better by far!
Hi Maria! If I’m making these vegan, is there a substitute for the egg white?
Thanks!
It’s official! My house smells like that store someone mentioned, with all the delicious candies and the smell of cinnamon. Such an easy recipe!
Glad you loved the pecans!
These are so easy and so good! I’ll definitely be making batches for Christmas gifts!
Baking right now. Too bad my hubby hates the smell of cinnamon. I hope they taste as good as they smell.
This recipe is so good!!!!! It’s easy peasy and pecans are delicious!!! This is going to be my go to recipe for gift giving!!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
DELICIOUS!!!
Easy to make. A nice addition to a holiday dessert table.
Thank you.
I love this recipe! I take it to carry in every Christmas at work. Now they expect it!! Delicious!
Awesome …
I’ve put this in my favorite stash! My grandson (age 4) came to me and said, “Papaw, can you make this pecan candies? You make the best pecan candies!” It’s a winner around here with little to no effort…
I love these pecans and they are so easy! Only problem is I can’t stop eating them!

This recipe was an unmitigated disaster for me. I make candied nuts of all kinds all the time. On a regular basis I make batches once or twice a week. I decided to try this recipe but… No. My pecans are burnt and I don’t like the taste of the sugar mix with the cinnamon and salt. My pecans look black, tar-y, and unappetizing. I won’t be using this recipe again.
These candied pecans are absolutely divine! I am currently making them for the third time in two weeks and they are a favorite of everyone who has tried them. Though not many have tried them because my husband and I can’t keep them around more than 3 days at most. They are just that good! I love the crunch that comes with this recipe, and every nut turns out perfectly coated in the sugar mixture. This has become a staple in our household!
These are so good!!! Better than other candied pecans recipes I’ve tried. They’re addictive!
I would prefer less cinnamon. It left a bitter aftertaste with 1 tbsp of cinnamon.
I love this recipe, thank you so much. God bless you.
This is the recipe I always use and people always ask me for the recipe. This year a friend actually said not to buy her a gift – just make up a jar of my pecans! Works for me!
I am so glad you love the recipe. I made some yesterday!
Love your recipes! So many of them make my Christmas baking list! I was wondering….Would this recipe work with walnuts or pistachios? I love the pecans but they’re an expensive nut so I was thinking of other options!
All of your recipes are amazing! I have so much fun trying new things. And I love this candied pecans recipe! Delicious!! I have your cookbook and will randomly open it up, point to the recipe on the page I’ve turned to and say, “this is what I’m cooking today!”
It makes me happy …thank you so much!
Thanks Tammy! I am so glad you are loving our cookbook. What a fun game to play, ha!
I tried your candied pecans and my husband and I loved them l added 5c of pecans and used two baking sheets thank you so much great recipe l made more put into jars for Christmas
So easy and so tasty! And I’m going to have to make another batch soon at the rate this one is disappearing.
I dont Know why everyone is saying the temp is too high. The temp is perfect. Put in the oven for 40 min mixing every 10 min and they were PERFECT!!! I did Half pecans and half almonds. My 6 year old loves them & my husband who despises pecans also loves them. I will Def be making again. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I am so glad you love the candied pecans. One of my favorite things to make. They always smell so good!
Hello, what is the difference in the finished product between this recipe and your candied walnuts recipe? (apart from the nut, of course) Which one is best?
I made them and took a bag to my aunt because she was having family come for Christmas. She called tonight and said she put out everything thing else I took her but hid them in her room and wasn’t sharing them! ❤️ They were delicious and super easy. I’m making more tonight.
At what temperature are you baking them? Very important information missing!
See step 1 in the recipe card. 300 degrees F. It is listed.
It’s the top line of the recipe. 300F
I am disabled now, but love to cook. This is best recipe I have found, what a joy to still be a blessing to caregivers and their families. On good days with help, I make this treat and send home with the women who are such blessings in my life. Treats don’t always make it home, but that’s a tale for someone else to tell
Just excellent. Everyone asks me to make them! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve made these several times, and they’re always a hit. Once finished and cooled, I keep them at room temperature in a mason jar with a lid. They’ll keep fresh a long time like that if you like to have some on hand. We like to use them in a particular salad. It’s just mixed lettuce greens, feta cheese, dried cranberries, chopped seasoned grilled or baked chicken, and these candied pecans (if dressing is desired, olive oil or a fruity balsamic is nice). That salad is always a hit at potlucks, and the candied pecans play a starring role!
Just gotta say you have amazing willpower to not eat them all! Lol.
Ha! So true!
Never made candies pecans before – these were great! I’m totally coming back to this recipe in the future for the holidays 🙂
I know an egg white would be difficult to halve, but I only have 2 cups of pecans. Is there any way to make 1/2 this recipe?
Sure, you can make a half batch. Just whisk the egg white and use half of it. If it isn’t exact, that is ok!
These are delicious! Made them for the first time tonight. I have 2 pecan trees in my yard and this year has been a great year for them already. So know it’s gonna be even better next month! I love that I have fresh pecans on hand but could never make them for holidays for family gifts. 2 cups of hand shelling in 2 hrs takes its toll. they’ll just have to be special treats when I get visitors.
omg! These are sooooo super easy and delicious! We just love them and everyone we share them with too. Sending in the Christmas boxes this year for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering what you could use in place of an egg white (allergy)?
I recommended this to a vegan friend with the substitution of aquafaba (the liquid from a can of chickpeas) for the egg white.
Don’t use this recipe. It burned w/in 15 minutes. Off to find a better one.
Dummy
How long do these last! I only need 1/3 cup chopped for my recipe. Even half the batch makes a lot.
I store mine in a glass jar with a lid and they will last for a month or so. I love having them in my pantry!
These candied pecans are WONDERFUL!! My husband said they are incredible and that means something coming from him!! Very easy with fantastic crunch and flavor!! Thank you, Maria, for another great recipe!!
Best recipe I have seen and made so far. I love the combination of white and brown sugar, and the cinnamon gives it an added boost of flavor. This will definitely be my go to recipe from here on out.
So easy for a beginner! I used two parts pecans and one part shelled pistachios. I used almond extract and pistachio extract. I tripled the recipe and spread it over 4 smallish metal pans with parchment. I rotated the four pans in the oven every 8 minutes and stirred well each time. Absolutely delicious.
Excellent! My son made these for your apple brie crostini appetizer Thanksgiving Day (5 stars as well), they barely made it to the appetizer they were so good! I will be gifting these candied pecans this year.
These candied pecans are special. Thank you, as always, for another great recipe!!
Can you add melted butter to the egg white mixture for more flavor?
I haven’t made them this way, but you can try it!
What would happen if I added cayenne pepper to the recipe ? I would like a little spice.
I love the idea of adding a kick! Go for it!
My Christmas gift to staff are candied nuts in a holiday container. This is my favorite recipe. I’ve been doing this for 7 years now. It’s easy and delicious!
How sweet! Love this!
I’ve made your recipe for several years. They are delicious and everyone loves them!! Do you think this recipe would work subbing the pecans for cashews or almonds? Thank you!
This recipe is great for any nut you can get your hands on! I LOVE this recipe!! Super easy, fast and delicious!
I just finished making these for the 2nd time and they are delicious! They’re very easy to make and went over well as part of hostess gifts for holiday parties. Highly recommend!
Can these be frozen?
Yes!
Easy to make and they are delicious!
Yay!
So good! And easy which is a huge plus.
I roasted some pecans from my yard. They were delicious just plain. I would like to try your recipe. Do I roast them before I candy them?
These are my favorite go to every holiday season. This recipe is simple and quick to make. It has been my most requested by friends and family. Thank you for sharing this delightful recipe.
Delicious!! Great snack!! I made it while watching college football bowl game. I will take some to my aunt and to my cousin who was in car accident. A little something to help cheer him up. Thanks for the recipe.
Perfect, thank you! 30 mins in my gas stove was Devine!
Yummy delicious! I had to stop myself from eating them all the same day. You are my go-to recipe blog 🙂
Thanks so much!
Absolutely what I was looking for.
A simple recipe- perfect flavors.
This will be on our holiday tradition list-
but truthfully-
I will probably make them throughout the year because they are that awesome!
Thank you
I make them year round! So good on salads, oatmeal, yogurt, in cookies, eaten by the handful, etc!
I’ve made these several times and they get scooped right up! Crunchy sweet and a lil salty( I add a extra dash of salt ) Delicious every time!
Incredible taste, smell and texture! Simple recipe and a delicious treat
Looked at 10 or more candied pecans recipes and chose yours. I baked them for my son, for his 40th birthday and everyone loved them!
I also cut the recipe in half and baked candied walnuts and they turned out great.
Most definitely this recipe is a keeper.
Help,,, followed recipe,, they came out gooey from the oven,, I used to make these but don’t remember them like this,,,
I haven’t made them yet, but look forward to it. My method is a lot more work! Any chance that the color for printing recipes in the nutrition information can be modified so that it is more legible? While the gray is very interesting on a web page, when you print it….it almost fades away. I tend to print my favorites and yours are some of my favorites!
Does the recipe use raw pecans or pre-roasted pecans? I am assuming the former since they baked in the recipe but the recipe is not specific.
I’ve made these several times now and they are just divine. So easy and just incredible. What a treat!
They are SO good!
Fabulous! Just made them for the first time for Thanksgiving and will be making them again at Christmas. Didn’t have light brown sugar so substituted dark brown sugar to mix with white sugar. Easy and delicious. Husband loved, too. Now I will have to hide them. Thanks for the recipe!
You are welcome!
I made the easy candied brown surgar and cinnamon coated pecans and to my delight they turned out absolutely delicious. I plan on giving little gift bags full of these
Lucious pecan treats to family and friends.
Thank you for posting the recipe. May you have a Wonderful holiday!!
So happy you loved them. Happy Holidays!
Can you use any nut here, so you think?
Sure!
Like you, I love the smell of cinnamon in the house. I’ll be making these candied pecans this afternoon, a perfect antidote to a rainy afternoon.
Another go to smell this time of year is that of mulled wine or cider. And sometimes, when I just want the smell and not something warm to drink, I just put some cinnamon sticks and other spices in wate on the wood stove. And soon the house smells heavenly. (I guess another kind of stove would work too.)
Thanks to all the good recipes over the year. Best wishes for 2023.
You are welcome!!
These candy Pecans were delicious.
Loved this recipe. Easy to make and everyone loved the candied pecans. The first thing my husband asked when he came into the house was, “What are you baking?” “It smells fantastic.” The aroma of the pecans baking got him. He loved the way the house smelled and was eager to sample this new treat!
Glad you loved the recipe!
Is an egg white necessary do you think? Egg allergy in the family
Thanks!
I am sure you could get by without it.
30 minutes is way too long, even with stirring. Aim for 20-25
I disagree, I even go the 45 minutes stirring every 15 minutes and they are perfect.
45 minutes is perfect. Your oven might be running hot, if so then you would need less time.
Easy and delicious
Been using this recipe for several years and it’s one of my go-tos to take to parties. Made 5 batches today for my nephew’s wedding on Saturday as a special request from the family. Thank goodness I have several pecan trees on my property and keep the shelled nuts in my freezer for easy use for this recipe.
They are my favorite! I am jealous you have pecan trees:)
Stumbled across this recipe and made it. I love it. I made it for a co-worker and she loved it now the other co-workers want me to make them some too! Thanks
Glad you love the recipe!
I love your recipe and have been using it solely when making candied pecans. I wonder if you’ve ever tried your recipe with any other nuts? Like almonds? I have a bag of almonds and all my friends want me to candy them, but im hoping this recipe will work, what do you think?
A+ Taste wonderful. Quick and easy to make. Followed the recipe exactly! Definitely a winner! ⭐️
The best:)
Love this recipe for at least 2 years in a row. I add one other ingredient – 3 tbsp melted butter at the end before baking. May not make a difference but it seems the crunch lasts longer when stored for a few days.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for adding this! I will try it since I’ll be gifting some 🙂
Absolutely, enticingly delicious and so easy to make. Hard to save any to gift!
I agree, I always have to make two batches so I have some to share:)
Make these for the Holidays every year,
My family loves them.
They are the best!
Easy-Delicious- had to keep the family away so I could use them in my salad. I lost the battle and had to make more!
Ha! It happens to me too!
These turn out perfectly every time! Today, we will use them in a salad with greens, slivers of red onion, dried cranberries, borgonzola, and a homemade maple vinaigrette! So delicious !
Thank you!
The best!!
I enjoy reading and making your recipes all year long.
Such a busy family you are.
Have a wonderful Christmas…happy eating.
Jill from Vancouver
Thank you!
Bakers beware, these are addicting and insanely easy to make!
The sweet salty crunch will have you grabbing for more.
These are great for charcuterie boards, a sweet snack, gifts or literally anything. Put these bad boys in a mason jar and give them out to people.Everyone has loved them, asking where I bought them.
They make a great gift! So happy you love them!
Absolutely delicious!!
The best!
Such a great recipe. So addicting and makes wonderful gifts. Thank you!!
You are welcome!
I have had a taste for Pecan Pralines lately, so started searching. I wanted the pecan praline recipe using a cinnamon, sugar coating, baked in the oven. However I saw several using the stove top, candy thermometer, and dropping by ice cream scoop onto a cookie sheet. It used 3 cups sugar and dark syrup. Unhealthy.
This recipe was what I wanted. I didn’t have an egg so used 1/4 cup melted butter, stirred in vanilla and drizzled over top of the pecans then dumped into the sugar cinnamon mixture and coated well. I sprayed a cookie sheet and single layered pecan mixture and baked according to the recipe. It is delicious and I like the fact that it was quick, and only used 1 cup sugar and no syrup. Thank you for the great recipe.
They are SO good! Glad you loved them!
That’s not true, these will never last a month. They will be long gone by then! They are awesome!!
Ha!! They always go quickly at our house too!
Love pecans want this recipe tys
Wonderful!!!! Why haven’t I been doing this my whole life? These are delicious and a huge hit in my house. The house does smell amazing.
They are SO good!
Easy to make and delicious! Everyone loves them and I’ll have to make them again ❤️
They are the best!
Absolutely fantastic!! I needed a recipe quickly and tried another one first… disaster. This one was super easy and tasted delicious. Thank you!
I make them all of the time!
I made these this morning to give as gifts at an upcoming family get together. I sampled several. So good!
I added a heaping teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Next time I may experiment and sprinkle just a little coarse sea salt as soon as they come out of the oven. A double recipe fills twelve 8 ounce canning jars, plus a baggie full for me. I definitely baked them for the full 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
I love the addition of cayenne pepper!
Easy to make and delicious!
My favorite!
I’d like to use honey instead of sugar. Would you use the same amount and delete the water?
I haven’t tried the recipe with honey.
What does stirring mean? Aren’t the pecans laying flat in a single layer?
I love this recipe! I give these out for the holidays and they are always a hit. Sometimes I replace the cinnamon with Penzey’s pumpkin pie spice.
My favorite too!
I’ve made these several times before, but this time I forgot the salt..will they be ok?
Yes! You can sprinkle with a little salt after.
I was looking for “the best” candied pecan recipe and hit the jackpot with yours! The coating is nice and crunchy and the nut is perfectly browned. I did add about 1/4 teaspoon of cayanne. For a little kick.
We can’t stop snacking on them. I plan on making them for holiday gifts for friends & neighbors. Thanks for another great recipe!!!
They really are the best! Thanks for reporting back!
Positively addictive. These are nearly impossible to find in the stores. When I did find them, at a craft fair, they were $10.00, for a pint jar.
