Banana Pudding Cookies
Updated March 26, 2019
I’ve always been a fan of banana pudding. Creamy pudding, vanilla wafers, bananas, and whipped cream, Mmmm! Such a comforting classic dessert! I decided to take banana pudding and turn it into a cookie. I am always dreaming up new cookie recipes:)
I wasn’t sure if my idea would work, but these Banana Pudding cookies taste just like Banana Pudding. If you put on a blind fold and took a bite, I bet you would think you were eating banana pudding. Ok, well the texture is a little different since it is a cookie, but the flavor is spot on! 🙂
To create the Banana Pudding Cookies, I added a package of Banana Cream Pudding mix into the cookie dough. I love using pudding mixes in cookies because the pudding keeps the cookies super soft. If you like soft cookies, make sure you try my Vanilla Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies and Chocolate Pudding Cookies.
The Banana Cream Pudding gave the cookies the perfect banana flavor. You can’t have banana pudding with out vanilla wafers, so I added chopped up vanilla wafers into the cookie dough too! They added a nice little crunch and brought the banana pudding flavor to life. I stirred in white chocolate chips for the sweet whipped cream flavor.
If you are a banana pudding fan, you HAVE to make these Banana Pudding Cookies. Get your banana pudding fix in cookie form!
Banana Pudding Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 3.4 oz package banana cream instant pudding mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped vanilla wafer cookies
- 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat baking mat and set aside.
- Using a mixer, beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add in pudding mix, eggs, and vanilla extract. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the vanilla wafer cookies and white chocolate chips.
- Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until slightly golden around the edges and set. Remove cookies from oven and let cool on baking sheet for two minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool completely.

I always make my chocolate chip cookies with vanilla pudding mix! Found it in Allrecipes a while ago and it became our favorite “chocolate chip cookie” …. looking forward to switching it a little bit with banana pudding mix!

Just made these cookies, and they are so good! My whole family loves them.
Just finished making these cookies for a function tomorrow. They are Delicious. Thanks for posting the recipe
These were easy and tasted amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
The flavour really came through.
🙂
I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing these look. I love your vanilla pudding chocolate chip cookies and I have been yearning for banana pudding lately, even bought some a few weeks ago. These are going to be made soon!
Maria these cookies look delish! One of my fave flavors is banana and now I can’t wait to make these cookies. My family are cookie fanatics! Probably because I don’t bake very often. 🙂
thank you so much for sharing this! i already tried them and the whole family really enjoyed them. next time, i’m going to try them with half the white chip amount though, as i find white chocolate pretty sweet. but other than that… perfect!
i’ve tried pudding cookies before, and they’re fine and all. but this is much better. i noticed that your flour/butter/pudding mix ratio is different, and i’m guessing that’s why. you truly are the cookie queen. high fives!!
I was so excited to make these but I will be honest when I did I was disappointed. There were two things I did not like: 1. The fake banana flavor that the pudding produces 2. They were just way too sweet. I love sweet but between the brown sugar, granulated sugar, sugar in the pudding mix, sugar in the wafers and sugar in the chips it was even too much sweet for me. Now this was my first time making pudding cookies. I have made pudding cake. So I am wondering if I used vanilla pudding with mashed bananas to help with the banana flavor and then eliminate the granulated sugar if that might solve my problem or do you think real bananas would make the cookie just fall apart? I am a big fan of your recipes by the way and I am sure this is just personal taste on this one. Thanks.
Sorry you thought the cookies were too sweet. You can play around with the recipe and try adding bananas if you wish.
These are fantastic! read somewhere else that you were experimenting with pudding recipes. Pistachio pudding has always been a favorite of mine…. 🙂
My mom sent me these in care package (I’m in the Army, currently in Afghanistan) and they are delicious! Thank you so much.
I am so glad you enjoyed the cookies. Thank you for your service to our country! Take care!
I just found your blog the other day and decided to try these cookies since I’m a huge fan of banana pudding. I was a little unsure if I’d like the banana pudding in them since I’m not usually a fan of the artificial banana flavor. However, these are fantastic! I will definitely be making these again 🙂
Thank you very much for sharing!
These sound delicious; can’t wait to try variations on the pudding idea 🙂
I made these over the weekend for a bbq and they were GONE in a flash! Huge hit!!! Thank you for a great keeper of a recipe!!!
Just wanted to let you know that I linked these in my blog post today! I modified your recipe into a ‘healthier’ version… but, instead of them turning into your banana pudding cookies, they turned into more of a ‘banana bread cookie’ and that is what I call them now. They’ve been a big hit at my work and my 6 year old even loves them!!! Thank you for your inspiration and fabulous recipes!!!
Wowzer, found these on pinterest, and they are SO good!
Made these and they are excellent. Only thing is the cookie pieces got lost in the dough and I will use less white chips or less sugar, a little too sweet. Will try other pudding combinations cuz they are so easy
Just finished making and taste tested. OMG!!! So fabulous. Thank you for sharing
I’m not a white chocolate in cookies fan, but combined with the banana flavor, using them this way worked great. My husband is taking them to work to share. Too bad they won’t have milk there because they’re super sweet, and milk to wash it down seems perfect.
Do you think it would work if I used cooked pudding mix? Can’t find banana instant pudding mix here for the life of me!
I used french vanilla pudding and threw in a banana! SO delicious! The kids and hubby raved and the banana helped keep it moist…SO good!
Just made and these are delicious!! Bringing them to my Grandmoms 90th cookie swap themed birthday party and I’m sure they will be a hit!
That’s a good idea
To have a cookie recipe swap theme party
Especially if you’re running out of ideas for a gift for a birthday party.
You could even do a favorite book swap too
I made these wonderful cookies, Bananas Pudding cookies. I was curious if they have to be refridgated or if I could leave them out. If anyone’s knows.
Can you freeze these?
I made these a few weeks ago and loved them. I’m attempting a Pumpkin Pie version this morning. The plan is to substitute vanilla pudding with a generous spoonful of pumpkin, pumpkin spice chips, and crushed ginger snaps. Wish me luck!
Has anyone else actually made these? I went by the recipe and these were way too salty, and no I did not add more than the 1/2 tsp the recipe calls for
Did you use salted butter?
I use unsalted butter.
My mother and I stopped at a bakery a couple of years ago. They had banana pudding cookies to sample. We were hooked. As soon as we got home, I googled banana pudding cookies and this recipe came up. They were even better than the bakery ones. They were a hit with everyone we shared them with also.
These were a hit! Great recipe!
I made these theyre pretty good, but, now im not a baker so lol. But you just dumped in The banana pudding mix right? Thats what i did, i didnt make pudding i dumped the mix right in from the box, i was wo dering if you made the pudding it didnt say too, and my cookie mix is kinda thick, thats why i was wondering if it was just the mix or you made the pudding first lol.
These are my go-to recipe when I want to impress someone or make “thank you” cookies. They get rave reviews and taste amazing raw or cooked. 🙂 Thanks for sharing them!
Made several times,so good but mine don’t soread. What coukd be wrong? I don’t overmix
I didn’t follow instructions completely but the cookies were delicious. Banana cookies are now my oldest daughter’s favorite cookie. I always wanted to use pudding in cookies but never got around to experimenting. Thank you so much for this recipe.
These are literally my favorite cookies of all time! They are so soft and flavorful. You just wouldn’t expect cookies made with a pudding mix to be THIS good but they really are! Whenever I need to impress someone with my baking skills, I use this recipe!

I have never written a review for anything in my life. But these cookies are to-die-for!! So easy! I used white chocolate chip macadamia nut and some coconut with a light pineapple glaze. Perfection
So happy you love them!
This cookies are truly amazing. One of my husbands favorite desserts is banana pudding so I figured I would give this recipe a try. We both loved them a d so did everyone else who tried them. My cookies did not spread so I just pushed them down in the middle with the next batch. Problem solved. Thanks for sharing.
Not good at all too sweet.
Love them. So addicting
Thank you so much for this delicious recipe! I am curious about recipe development. Did you take a pre-existing cookie recipe and add the banana pudding mix? Or did you have to take out some of the flour to “make room” for the pudding mix? Thanks again!
These cookies are extremely dense. You definitely need a glass of milk to go along with them.
I’ve made these cookies 10 times this month and they are a huge hit! I omit the vanilla wafers, use salted butter and cut the salt added to a pinch. These are super easy and taste great!
My 14yo son and I do a cooking with mom “thing” on his TikTok. We just made these. So easy and delicious! All his friends want the recipe to make them with their moms!
Is there a way to make these without egg??
You can try a flax egg.
I made them and they were delicious. I added some milk chocolate chips as well.
Good afternoon thank you for that banana pudding cookie recipe I made 51 cookies off that batch they came out so good and delicious I made the dough on Saturday night 4-23-22 and I bake some on Sunday 4-24-22 I’m going to use that recipe when I go to my children house and different invites.
As a caregiver, my every minute is at a premium, & I’ve been leaning more toward bar cookies in recent years to save time. Have you tried using this to make bar cookies instead of individual drop cookies? If so, are there any recipe adjustments necessary? I’ve had good luck with a number of recipes, but I’m always looking to add a new one to the mix, & I don’t have anything similar to this one. Unless I hear from you that it doesn’t work, I might try when/if I have the chance. If I do, I’ll be back to share results here.
Bless you for making this cookie.
Excellent cookie. The flavor is amazing. A huge hit with my family.
Love them exactly as they are but wonder if I can freeze them?
Yes!
I have two family members that have to eat gluten free, so I substituted Annie’s Bunny Graham cookies for the vanilla wafers. They do make g-f vanilla wafers, but they are really dry. This worked perfectly.
Yay!
I made the banana pudding cookies last night they are delicious. I can’t wait to make them again.
I am so glad you liked the cookies.
this is a great recipe. I use banana emulsions and butter vanilla emulsions for my flavors. I powdered some freeze dried bananas and 10 vanilla wafers and added 3 tsp. cornstarch to my flour mixture. baked with a mini vanilla wafers on top and melted white chocolate and drizzled on top…mwah…they love them
These are amazing! I just made them for the first time today. Tastes just like banana pudding and the vanilla wafers add a nice crunch.
