Banana Cinnamon Chip Bread with Cinnamon Sugar Topping
Updated March 26, 2019
Happy Friday! What is on your weekend agenda? We are going to see Iron Man 2 tonight. Josh loves super hero movies and has been anxiously awaiting for this movie to come out. We loved the first one and hope the second is just as good. “I AM IRON MAN”-that song always gets stuck in my head:)
Now onto the bread. I’ve always enjoyed baking banana bread. It makes me feel domestic. I think it is the combination of using up brown bananas so nothing goes to waste and the inviting aroma the bread produces as it bakes. Banana bread is also the perfect gift to share with family, friends, and neighbors.
If you are a cinnamon fan, you will love this banana bread. It is similar to my banana cinnamon chip cake, but in bread form. I added cinnamon chips to the bread and sprinkled the bread with a cinnamon sugar topping. Eat a warm slice of bread with a dab of butter and indulge in banana cinnamon goodness.
I hope all the Mother’s out there have a fantastic Mother’s Day on Sunday. Here are a few brunch ideas:
Stuffed French Toast with Brie and Berries
Lemon Cottage Cheese Pancakes
Asparagus, Spinach, and Feta Cheese Frittata
Bruleed Steel Cut Oats
Rhubarb Apple Cinnamon Muffins
Mom’s- don’t do the cooking or the dishes. This is your day to be spoiled:)

I still have never tried cinnamon chips!! This sounds like a great way to have them! Love that you added a cinnamon sugar topping as well 🙂
My husband is a super hero kinda guy too! Im sure we will hit Iron Man 2 as well! I have bags of cinnamon chips in my freezer begging to be used. Im sure they will be happy to be in a yummy bread like this!
I noticed when baking with them you do not need a lot. They have a very strong cinnamon taste.
Wonderful! I’d love to find cinnamon chocolate chips here…
Cheers,
Rosa
You’re awesome. I have a fridge full of bananas that need to be made into banana bread. Will be trying this recipe! Thank you!

I made this very bread just a few weeks ago and my daughter asked me to make more! It’s delicious! I hope you have a great weekend Maria. Say Hi to Josh.
This is amazing. My mom would LOVE it – and probably be upset for making her fat!! Thanks again for a fabulous recipe to add to my collection.
So yummy! This bread has all my favorites ingredients….cinnamon, more cinnamon and bananas.
My husband is the same way with superhero movies. We are dying to see Iron Man 2. I hope it’s as good as the 1st one! Have a great weekend!

Love the inclusion of cinnamon chips in this banana bread!
That sounds delicious! Cinnamon sounds like a great addition to the bread, but what are cinnamon chips?
This sounds great! I wish I could get cinnamon chips here, but I’d settle for the bread without them too : ) I’ve been wanting to try a different banana bread recipe and this is going on my list! : ) Thanks!
Where do you get cinnamon chips? I have looked at a multitude of grocery stores and can not find them anywhere.
Thanks everyone! I find cinnamon chips at Fresh Market-which used to be Albertson’s in Utah. I have also seen them at Dan’s Market. If you can’t find them in stores, you can order them here: http://astore.amazon.com/twpeanthpo-20/detail/B000IMSSHM
that crunchy topping is the best part ever.
If I can find those cinnamon chips I would love to make this. I bet it fills the house with an amazing aroma.
And we will be watching Iron Man tonight as well! Have fun!!!
So funny, I felt so domestic the other day using up blueberries from my freezer that I had frozen last summer! Something about not letting things go to waste.
This banana bread looks fantastic! I love the abundance of cinnamon.
Just the name of this bread sounds heavenly.
looks properly sturdy and delicious! methinks some compound cinnamon butter would go quite nicely. 🙂
This is making my mouth water. This would be perfect with a cup of tea.
Mmm, that looks so homey and warm and wonderful. 🙂 Perfect weekend food all slathered with melty butter. 🙂
I love banana bread! I usually add chocolate chips to mine, but I definitely need to try it with cinnamon chips now!
Just found your blog, LOVE IT!!! Awesome recipes …. will be happy to follow along…
I just made a banana spice cake last night for the first time. I’m the same way with Bananas. Any time I find a few brown bananas sitting in the kitchen I get excited because it means I get to bake with them (I love, love, love bananas)!
I plan to go hog wild this weekend too and make way too many of my mom’s favorite dishes! I might try a few of your mom’s day suggestions too as each look scrumptious.
p.s. enjoy Iron Man!
I’ve never tried cinnamon chips! This bread sounds like a wonderful alternative to the standby banana bread. I’m a sucker for cinnamon.
Two of my favorites combined. Cinnamon and banana bread-yum!

Shoot. I just threw away two bananas that I forgot about. I would have loved to make this bread. I like making banana bread but I don’t really like eating it. To me, it’s boring. But the cinnamon addition here looks terrific!
I’ve got a bag of cinnamon chips in the pantry with this recipe written all ove it. Can’t wait to try it… sounds delicious! I might even do it in muffin form.
Wow, this bread sounds incredible! I love those flavors together.

I love sweet cinnamony sweet breads. This looks so good, wish I had some for breakfast!
My biggest problem is that my bananas never get ripe enough for banana bread anymore because my daughter loves them so much! But this definitely does look like a winner!
I definitely agree… banana bread ALWAYS makes a house smell warm and inviting!
I just made Banana Pecan Bread…great minds think alike! This bread looks like it melts in your mouth! Yum!
A great website to buy cinnamon chips is http://www.goodearthgrain.com/. They have reasonable shipping and handling and a wonderful variety of other ingredients for baking!
I just made this over the weekend – soooooo good! This recipe will definitely become one of my staples when looking to use up those brown bananas! http://wp.me/pVXmJ-bh
Glad you enjoyed the bread!
Just out of curiousity, for the cinnamon sugar coating, do you use white sugar or brown sugar?
I used white sugar.
Made these as 36 mini muffuns (baked 30 min) to tuck in with cookies for holiday gifting. They rose to an elegant height – perfect little bite-sized morsels of bliss, Delicious!
Wow! Thank you! I always wanted to write on my website something like that. Can I implement a fragment of your post to my site?
Hey, you used to write fantastic, but the last several posts have been kinda boring… I miss your tremendous writings. Past few posts are just a little out of track! come on!
An interesting discussion is value comment. I feel that you must write extra on this topic, it won’t be a taboo topic however usually persons are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
Nice post. I be taught something tougher on completely different blogs everyday. It’ll all the time be stimulating to learn content from different writers and follow slightly one thing from their store. I’d favor to use some with the content material on my weblog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll offer you a hyperlink in your internet blog. Thanks for sharing.
