Almond Butter Granola
Updated March 26, 2019
Almond Butter Granola-easy homemade granola made with almond butter. Enjoy for breakfast or as a healthy snack!
I love making homemade granola. It’s so simple and always tastes much better than store bought granola. This easy Almond Butter Granola is my new favorite recipe. I made it because I wanted a healthy snack, but I ended up eating most of the pan by myself, so I guess there went the healthy part. Oops! I made it again and put it away in glass jars so I wouldn’t eat it all in one sitting and so I would have some in our pantry for breakfast and snacking. It is great to have on hand.
The secret ingredient is almond butter, well I guess it really isn’t a secret because I already told you it was Almond Butter Granola, but the almond butter is the key to this granola. It gives it the BEST flavor and makes the granola crisp and clumpy. I like to use Justin’s Maple Almond Butter, but any almond butter will work. You can use your favorite.
I mix almond butter with pure maple syrup, coconut oil, and vanilla extract. I pour the mixture over oats, almonds, flaxseed, cinnamon, and sea salt. Bake until the granola gets nice and toasty and then let it cool on the pan. If you want the granola to be clumpy, DON’T stir the granola on the pan while it is cooling. It will set up and clump up as it cools.
You can eat the Almond Butter Granola with yogurt, milk, or you can eat it right from the pan. I had handful after handful. You can store it in glass jars or an airtight container for up to one month. I don’t think our granola will ever last that long because it is SO good, I can never stop eating it. Good thing it is super easy to make, I don’t mind making it over and over! Enjoy!

I bet I would be totally addicted to this!
Whoa! Almond butter and almonds?! This looks absolutely delicious and its simplicity makes it even more appealing! I love that the added sugar is minimal (you can omit maple syrup altogether if you choose). Going to make ASAP! What an awesome snack. Thanks 🙂
It’s my new favorite! SO good!
Do you use salted or unsalted almond butter?
You can use either!
Hey girl- this looks so good!
That granola looks amazing!

Yes! Every time I see a recipe for granola, I think to myself, “I need to make that!” Something about seeing granola makes me crave it instantly. Your recipe looks so yummy. Love that it uses coconut oil, too!
This granola is awesome! I hope you like it too!
Love the sound of this granola!
This granola is phenomenal. Absolutely amazing and addicting. Thank you!
Yay! So glad you like the granola!
I would destroy this by the handful… LOL!!
I thought I had a favorite granola recipe, but after hearing the rave reviews here, I may be wrong.
Will try this one soon.
I think you will love this one. It is my new favorite!
Great recipe, thank you for sharing it! The only change I made was to add some almond extract (used vanilla as well).
Yum!
I am planning to make this tonight, but realized I don’t have coconut oil. Is it possible to substitute with something else? What do you think would be the best option? THANKS!
You can use canola or vegetable oil if that is what you have.
Great! Thanks for getting back to me!
I made this tonight and it did not clump at all. Not enough liquid or did I bake it too long? It still tastes good, just a bit dry.
What temp do you cook at it ? as I have fan assisted oven and it looks amazing 🙂 can’t wait I make this !!!
Thanks 🙂
See the recipe directions, 325 degrees F. Enjoy!
Can this be made with quick oats instead of traditional rolled oats?
Thank you.
This is a tasty granola recipe that is not too sweet. It will make a great addition to my morning yogurt. Thanks!
Maria, just wanted to tell you how great this granola is! It is so hard to find a recipe for granola that is not full of sugar, and this one is not only delicious, but so healthy! I made a big batch, and also added a few tablespoons of steelcut oats for added texture. This is definitely our new family favorite! Thanks!
Glad you liked the granola, thanks for letting us know!
YUM. Made this tonight and threw in a few chocolate chips. Hurrying the rest into a jar. Deadly good. Thanks for the recipe!
Outstanding recipe! I couldn’t stop eating it!
I have made this recipe and am going to make another batch today. I have too say I dislike when folks review recipes with changes, but this one is worth entertaining this option. It’s not as healthy, but it’s an amazing treat. I left out the flax because it showed up as a possible allergen, and added a heaping tablespoon of almond paste, finely chopped and mixed in just before baking. I don’t eat lots of grain, so this is for when I want a healthier treat. It’s perfect for topping yogurt or on frozen banana whip.
Glad you liked the granola!
DELICIOUS
Do you provide any nutritional information with your recipes? They all sound great!
SO GOOD!!! Thanks for the recipe. I didn’t have flaxseed and used an egg white mixed w/ (2) tablespoons water to aid the “clumping.” Never buying from the store again!!
Love this granola! Made it for a friend who just had knee surgery
Thanks for all your wonderful recipes!
What kind of coconut oil do you use? Unrefined? Refined? There are so many varieties.
Absolutely delicious amazing gorgeous fantastic exquisite
Thanks for the recipe, Maria! Do you have a favorite brand of almond butter? Amy
I like Justin’s, RX Bar, Barney Butter, Trader Joe’s.
I recently bought Almond Butter granola from Trader Joe’s and it was so good but I can’t justify the price for how fast I ate it. So excited to try this recipe, hope it’s even better than what I was eating!
can you use butter instead of almond butter?
No, they are two different things. Butter will make it too greasy. And almond butter is what gives it its flavor.
Love this recipe!! Super easy to make and delicious.
So yummy! I’ve been on a search for the perfect homemade granola, and so far this is the definite favorite!
Do you have the nutritional info on this?
This is my favorite homemade granola – it’s not too sweet and the flavor is great! Thank you for so many tasty recipes!
I make it almost every week:) Glad you love it too!
Oh my gosh, this is now my newest favorite granola recipe, it is delicious!
I doubled the recipe and added these additional ingredients: 3 more Tablespoons of flaxmeal, 4 T of chia seeds, 1 cup of chopped walnuts, and subbed 1/2 of maple syrup for coconut nectar which has a lower glycemic index. None of these affected the original flavor. I will be passing on this yummy recipe to friends!
Hands down the best granola my husband and I have ever had!
It had such a nice texture and consistency. Some granolas are too crunchy or sticky, but this one baked up soft and the flavours were nice and subtle and warming.
Just baked this and I love it! I’m eating it from the tray as it cools down. Wonder how much there will be left… I put half the cinnamon because my family is not big on this. It’s truly perfect and not too sweet. Will bake again for sure. Thanks
This is such a great recipe and so easy to add in extras or minuses if you don’t have it on hand. I used almonds and walnuts this time with my homemade almond butter. I have used agave and honey. Olive oil for coconut oil. Didn’t have flaxseed, no problem. Just press into the pan a little more and let cool. So good.
Thank you so much for the recipe, this is simply heaven! My mother made it first, per recipe, and we found the ground flaxseed to give it a bitter aftertaste. I made the next batch without it, and it was PERFECT! May be a bad batch of ground flaxseed, or just our taste, but we both love it without. I wondered if you had nutrition information on this? Trying to get healthier, and the info would really help. I’ll try to figure it out.
Thank you again for curing our cravings in a healthier way!
This has become a staple in my pantry. I make it every few weeks it is soooooo good
I am so glad! I have to have it in our pantry at all times!
Best granola ever! Crunchy, tasty, healthy and very easy to make! I added, pumping seeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds and cacao nibs! This will be my 5th batch si se I tried it!
Good flavor, but I cooked mine for 22 minutes total and it was burned! I have an oven thermometer too, so I’m not sure why my cook time was off by so much! Hopefully, I have more luck next time.
I’ve made this before and it’s deliciously addicting! I am low on ingredients and I’m wondering if subbing melted butter for coconut oil would work? And would sliced almonds get too well done?
Sure, you can use melted butter. If you want to use sliced almonds, I would wait 15 minutes to add them or you can stir them in after.
I love every recipe of yours that I’ve tried, but I am allergic to nuts and here in Toronto we cannot send anything with nuts to school.
Could this granola be made with sunflower seed butter instead? Pumpkin seeds instead of the nuts?
Thank you!
Thanks so much! Yes, you can use sunflower seed butter and pumpkin seeds! Enjoy!
Hi Maria
What can be used in lieu of coconut oil
And how to get those gorgeous clumps of granola
This granola is absolutely delicious and highly addictive! I skip the flax due to allergies and increase the cinnamon to one tsp. I find that mine is done cooking at about 22 minutes. I like the flavor better using raw almonds, since pre-roasted ones get super toasty. I’ve also used pecan butter (made in the vitamix) and pecans in place of almond butter/almonds and it’s equally delicious. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!
Is there an easy way to make bars using this recipe? Or do you have something similar in a bar form? Thanks!
Try my homemade granola bars. I use peanut butter, but almond butter will work! https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/homemade-granola-bars/
This is delicious. Omg, I can’t stop eating this. I added raisins, and they add a beautiful sweetness combined with the cinnamon and a great contrast to the almonds and oats. I used sliced almonds and they are delicious.
Perfect! Glad you loved the recipe!
Love this recipe have made this so many times I have lost count!
Yay!
I used butter because I didn’t have any coconut oil. I used a cup of hand crushed pistachios and maybe a ¼ cup of shaved almonds. I also used a trilogy seed mix of flax, chia and hemp.
Great recipe. Will use again.
I really enjoyed this granola recipe. I love using it as a topper for my smoothie in the morning.
Perfect for smoothies!
Love this recipe! I love that you have flax meal added and that it is low on sugar. (I also added some Hemp hearts and pepitas.) With this said I appreciate the versatility of the recipe! Wonderful and easy, thank you!! I will for sure make this again!
Love this! What’s one serving though? It says the calories but doesn’t say the serving size per serving
Love the flavors. If there is any way to make this a bit crunchy I’d love to hear it.
What’s the serving size for the 194 calories?
I love this recipe. I add probably 2 cups of nuts: almonds, pecans, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and add coconut shreds at halfway stir time. Thank you for this recipe.
You are welcome!
