- Creamy, Tangy, & Fresh Flavor: The perfect balance of creamy plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream) with the zesty punch of dill pickles and fresh dill. YUM!
- Can Be Made Ahead: Prep it in advance and chill to let the flavors develop. I love having it in the fridge for an easy snack or appetizer. It keeps well in the fridge for several days.
- Crowd-Pleaser: Whether at a party, game day, or BBQ, this dip is always a hit and will disappear fast.
- Crunchy Fried Dill Pickle Dip Option: For a fun twist, try the fried dill pickle dip option with garlic breadcrumbs for a crispy, indulgent texture!
Key Ingredients
- Plain Greek yogurt: I like to use Greek yogurt for a boost of protein and I always have it in the fridge. It is creamy and adds a slight tang that enhances the dill pickle flavor. Sour cream will also work.
- Dill pickles: The star of the dip, finely chopped. Use a good-quality dill pickle for maximum flavor—spears or sandwich slices work best.
- Dill pickle juice: Don’t forget to add dill pickle juice for even more pickle flavor and it makes the dip smoother.
- Seasonings: Use a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, To enhance the flavor and add a subtle depth. And I highly recommend finishing the dip with fresh dill and chives for a burst of freshness.
- Optional Garlic Breadcrumbs: If you want to make a Fried Dill Pickle Dip, toast up some breadcrumbs in butter and garlic! Stir them into the dip and garnish with the rest for a savory, crunchy texture.
How to Make Dill Pickle Dip
- Chop the pickles: Chop the dill pickles finely. Make sure to drain them well to avoid excess moisture in the dip.
- Mix together the dip: In a medium bowl, combine plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream) pickles, pickle juice, dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, chives, and pepper.
- Garnish: Top the dip with fresh dill, chives, and extra pickles!
Fried Dill Pickle Dip: A Fun Twist!
The dip is great plain, but if you’re a fan of fried pickles, why not take the dip game to the next level with a fried dill pickle dip? This version adds crispy garlic breadcrumbs! Don’t worry, they are easy to make!
- Make the garlic breadcrumbs: Heat a little bit of butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the panko breadcrumbs and cook until golden brown. Transfer the breadcrumbs to a plate so they can cool before adding to the dip.
- Add the breadcrumbs. Stir half of the cooled breadcrumbs into the dip and sprinkle the remaining breadcrumbs on top of the dip. Top with fresh dill, chives, and extra pickles!
Serving Suggestions
- Chips: The dip is SO good with salty, crunchy potato chips. Kettle chips or wavy potato chips are my favorite. Tortilla chips will also work.
- Crudité: Fresh vegetables like carrot sticks, celery, bell peppers, and cucumber are great for dipping.
- Crackers and Pretzels: Serve with buttery crackers or pretzels for a salty, crunchy pairing.
- Bread: Serve with toasted baguette slices or warm pita for a more substantial option.
- Chicken Tenders: My boys also like to dip their chicken tenders into this dip!
Storing Tips
- Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you’ve made the toasted garlic breadcrumbs, store them in a separate container on the counter, as they may lose their crispiness when stored in the dip.
