Key Ingredients

  • Cooked Chicken : Shredded chicken is the star of the show. You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience or cook your own and shred it.
  • Cream Cheese: This provides the creamy base that balances out the heat of the Buffalo sauce. Softened cream cheese is essential for easy mixing so don’t forget to sit it out on the counter for about one hour before you start making the dip!
  • Buffalo Sauce: The key ingredient for that signature zesty, spicy flavor. Frank’s RedHot is a popular choice, but feel free to use your favorite brand.
  • Plain Greek Yogurt: This adds creaminess, a bit of tang, and a boost of protein. Sour cream will also work.
  • Shredded Cheese: I use a mix of shredded mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese for maximum flavor and melty goodness!

How to Make the Dip in a Slow Cooker

Buffalo Chicken Dip can be made in a slow cooker, and it’s a great option if you want a hands-off cooking method or need to keep the dip warm for a longer period at a party or gathering.

  • Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker (except for garnishes) and mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  • Cook on Low: Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until the dip is hot and bubbly, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir and Serve: Once everything is melted and the dip is creamy, give it a good stir to combine any cheese that might have settled.
  • Keep on Warm: After it’s done cooking, you can keep the dip on the “warm” setting of the slow cooker if you’re serving it over a long period (great for parties or gatherings). Make sure to stir the dip frequently! so it doesn’t burn on the edges.

Serving Suggestions

This dip is incredibly versatile when it comes to serving options. Here are some of the best ways to enjoy it:

  • Chips: Tortilla chips or potato chips are a classic choice that perfectly complements the dip’s creamy and spicy flavors.
  • Vegetables: Celery, carrots, cucumber slices, or bell peppers are great options that balance the richness of the dip.
  • Crackers: Serve with buttery crackers or pita chips for extra crunch.
  • Bread: Toasted baguette slices are a great way to scoop up the dip.

How to Store & Reheat

  • Storing: Store leftover dip in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat individual servings in the microwave, covered, for 1-2 minutes or until warm. You can also reheat in the entire dish in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, or until it’s heated through.
