Other Immersion Blenders to Consider

Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender

This immersion blender set from Breville is a fancier one. It has a whopping 15 speed settings, which is especially helpful when it comes to blending liquids without splattering them everywhere. The set includes a stick blender, a whisk attachment, a 3-cup chopper attachment, and a measuring cup. The Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender is available at Amazon for $129.95.

KitchenAid Pro Line Hand Blender

This immersion blender is ideal for making smoothies like my Detox Smoothie and Peach Raspberry Smoothie because it can blend frozen fruit, and it comes with a blending jar! The grip is comfy to hold, and the attachments are dishwasher-safe, which makes for easy clean-up. However, this immersion blender only has two speeds, so it won’t be able to tackle quite as many kitchen tasks as the top products on this list. The KitchenAid Pro Line Hand Blender is available at Amazon for $59.99.

Vitamix Stainless Steel Immersion Blender

Vitamix is known for making powerful, top-notch blenders, and this immersion blender is no exception. It doesn’t come with any accessories or attachments, which makes storage a breeze, but also means that you’re paying more than $100 for a no-frills immersion blender. That said, if you love Vitamix products, then this would be a great option for you! The Vitamix Stainless Steel Immersion Blender is available at Amazon for $149.95.

Braun MultiQuick 5 Immersion Hand Blender

This immersion blender has five speeds and comes with a measuring cup, which means it’s perfect for making salad dressings and smoothies. The end of the stick blender is shaped like a bell, which helps reduce splattering when you’re blending things like soup — this, plus the fact that it’s dishwasher-safe means that clean-up is extra easy! The Braun MultiQuick 5 Immersion Hand Blender is available at Amazon for $49.75.

Nutribullet Immersion Blender Deluxe Set

Nutribullet’s Immersion Blender Deluxe Set includes a stick blender, a whisk attachment, a chopper attachment, and a measuring cup. It’s got five speeds, it’s easy to use, and its attachments are dishwasher-safe, which makes it easy to clean. This could be a great starter immersion blender, but might not last as long as the other models on this list that are made of stainless steel. The Nutribullet Immersion Blender Deluxe Set is available at Amazon for $30.49.

Why You Can Trust Me

Hi! I’m Maria, the founder of Two Peas and Their Pod. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen developing recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert — plus SO many snacks, dips, and sauces! My immersion blender is one of my favorite kitchen tools when it comes to making all the above, from tasty pancake batter to the easiest pasta sauces.

I’ve personally used immersion blenders from Mueller (my favorite!), KitchenAid, Breville, and Cuisinart. For the immersion blenders I haven’t had the pleasure of testing, I read reviews from other trusted food blogs and food publications to get a feel for how they stand up to the competition.

What to Consider Before Buying an Immersion Blender

There are three main things to consider before buying an immersion blender: speed, attachments, and cord vs. cordless.

Speed: The number of variable speeds an immersion blender has is important to consider — if you plan to blend all sorts of different foods and liquids, it’s best to choose an immersion blender with at least five speeds. If you mostly use your immersion blender for soups, sauces, and smoothies, you can probably stick with a one- or two-speed immersion blender.

Attachments: Every immersion blender comes with a stick blender, at the very least. From there, some immersion blenders may come with choppers, whisks, frothers, and measuring cups. If you want an immersion blender that can multitask even more than usual, choose a kit that includes some of these extras.

Cord vs. cordless: An immersion blender with a cord definitely won’t be a dealbreaker for most people — I use one with a cord, and I don’t mind it at all! However, if you want to be able to use your immersion blender wherever you are and move freely about the kitchen, then you should go with a cordless model.

What is an Immersion Blender?

An immersion blender is a small handheld kitchen appliance that blends food when you immerse the end with the blades into your ingredients. It can achieve many of the same functions as a full-sized blender, and with attachments it could also be able to match the abilities of a food processor, milk frother, and a hand mixer.

How Do You Use an Immersion Blender?

To use an immersion blender, all you have to do is insert the stick blender end into whatever ingredients you want to blend. To get all the ingredients blended, I usually try to move it around and up and down a few times to catch everything!

What is an Immersion Blender Used For?

Immersion blenders can be used to blend, chop, mix, grind, whip, emulsify, and froth — but this depends on the attachments your blender comes with. Every immersion blender comes with a stick blender at the very least — this is mostly used to blend and emulsify things like smoothies, soups, and sauces.

Can You Use an Immersion Blender for Mashed Potatoes?

Yes! You can use an immersion blender to make mashed potatoes, but it’s important to use a powerful model (like one of the five-speed immersion blenders above!). This way, the immersion blender won’t get stuck or jammed when you’re blending! Mashed potatoes made using an immersion blender will be light, fluffy, and creamy!
