Crunchy, Chewy, Sweet & Salty Clusters

I make my S’mores Clusters all the time—they’re such a delicious little treat. Recently, I decided to mix things up and try a new version: Peanut Butter Pretzel Date Clusters and WOW! They are incredible!

If you’re craving a quick, no-bake snack that’s the ideal blend of sweet, salty, crunchy, and chewy, these clusters are the perfect choice!

I love that they’re made with basic pantry staples and require minimal effort. But the best part of these little treats are the flavor and textures: salty pretzels, creamy peanut butter, chewy dates, all covered in rich chocolate with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. The combination is AMAZING!

And as a bonus, these peanut butter clusters make a great Easter or springtime treat when you add a festive twist with my favorite Cadbury mini eggs to make the CUTEST clusters that look like bird’s nest.

I use semisweet chocolate chips, but dark or milk chocolate will work too! Add a little touch of coconut oil so the clusters are super shiny and set up nicely. If you don’t have coconut oil, avocado oil or vegetable oil will work too!

Now let’s talk about the dates. Some of you might be questioning the addition of dates, but trust me, they are SO good! They add natural sweetness and a chewy texture, that balances out the crunch of the pretzels. They also give the clusters a rich, caramel-like flavor while helping to bind everything together. Medjool dates are my favorite, give them a chance!

How to Make Peanut Butter Pretzel Date Clusters

melted chocolate and peanut butter in mixing bowl with spoon.

Ok, let’s do this! Start by melting the chocolate. I do this in the microwave, but the stovetop will work too!

Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, add the peanut butter and a splash of vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.

Add the chopped pretzels and dates to the chocolate peanut butter mixture. If you need the recipe to be gluten-free, you can use gluten-free pretzels.

Stir until the pretzels and dates are well coated in chocolate. Go ahead, give the mixture a little taste. SEE…I told you the combo worked! It’s almost TOO good:)

Using a spoon or cookie scoop, scoop out small portions of the mixture and drop them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. You can shape them into rough clusters, but they don’t need to be perfect! The kids can help with this step, it’s ok if they look rustic.

Sprinkle the clusters with a little flaky sea salt, the perfect finishing touch!

Place the clusters in the fridge for about 1 hour or until the chocolate is set and the clusters are firm. You can also freeze them for 20 to 30 minutes to speed up the process.

And now for some FUN! For Easter and spring, it’s easy to give these clusters a seasonal spin! You can easily turn the clusters into adorable bird’s nests.

Simply shape the clusters into small “nests” on the baking sheet, making a little indentation in the center to mimic a bird’s nest. Top each nest with a few Cadbury mini eggs (or your candy of choice) to complete the look. Chill so they can set up!

They are SO SO cute…and delicious too! You know I love a chance to use my favorite Cadbury eggs (try my cookies, blondies, and brownies too).

Regular clusters or nests, you can’t go wrong with these delicious little treats! They are a fun to make, fun to eat, and everyone loves them!

I love keeping a stash in the freezer so I always have a sweet treat on hand! They always hit the spot!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped pretzels
  • 1 cup chopped medjool dates
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup creamy natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
  • Cadbury mini eggs, if you want to make nests

Instructions

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a large microwave safe bowl. Place in the microwave and heat in 30 second intervals, stirring in between each interval, until smooth.
  • Add the peanut butter and vanilla extract to the melted chocolate and stir until smooth.
  • Add the chopped pretzels and dates. Stir until well coated.
  • Spoon the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming clusters, about 2 tablespoons per cluster. Make sure the clusters aren’t touching. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. If you want to make bird nests, gently press 3 Cadbury mini eggs on top and gently press down.
  • Refrigerate for 1 hour or until the chocolate is set and the clusters are firm. You can also freeze them for 20 to 30 minutes to speed up the process. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Storing: Store the clusters in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Dates: I use pitted medjool dates. If your dates aren’t pitted, remove the pit and then chop them up.
Variations: You can use semisweet, milk, or dark chocolate chips. I use natural creamy peanut butter, but commercial peanut butter will work.
