Chocolate Hazelnut Bark
Updated March 26, 2019
Happy Christmas Eve! I know everyone is busy finishing their shopping, wrapping presents, and anxiously waiting for Santa, but take a time out because I have one more treat to share-chocolate hazelnut bark. I recently made this bark for my guest post on Make and Takes. I make peppermint bark every year, but this year I also made a big batch of chocolate hazelnut bark.
If you like chocolate and hazelnuts together, you are in for a real treat. This chocolate bark has a special ingredient-Nutella! The bark also gets a generous sprinkling of chopped hazelnuts-which add a nice flavor and crunch. Chocolate hazelnut bark makes a great gift and is also fun to munch on during the holidays. And the best part? It is super easy to make, so you still have time to whip up a batch.
Merry Christmas everyone! We hope you all have a safe and joyous holiday!
Chocolate Hazelnut Bark
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chocolate I like to use dark chocolate
- 1/2 teaspoon hazlenut extract
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 1 cup finely chopped hazlenuts
Instructions
- 1. Line an 11-by-17-inch baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- 2. In the top of a double boiler, melt chocolate, stirring constantly.
- 3. Stir hazelnut extract and Nutella into the melted chocolate. Remove from heat, and pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet; spread evenly. Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
- 4. Chill until firm, 25 to 30 minutes. Break into pieces, and serve. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Note-you can also melt the chocolate in the microwave.

looks delicious! and totally gorgeous!
Wow! That looks delicious!
Where do you buy your hazelnuts?? I live in Las Vegas and I usually go to Trader Joe’s but they haven’t had them for months! Something about them being stuck in customs in LA since they are shipped in from Taiwan or something? So I haven’t had any hazelnuts this year 🙁
The bark sounds delicious and once I get a hold of hazelnuts I can’t wait to make my own batch!
Look at Whole Foods. I haven’t had any trouble finding them!
Anything Nutella-infused is a serious weakness of mine! Merry Christmas Maria!
The smell must be wonderful! Chocolate hazelnut bark is a great twist on a classic favorite.
These look awesome! The perfect blend of chocolate & hazelnuts! How is Christmas eve going over there??
Merry Christmas! That bark looks so tasty
mmm hazelnuts are my favorite kind of nuts! what a delightful chocolate bark 🙂
merry christmas!
yep, you just went there…my life is forever changed!
Nutelly is really a good ingredient for Christmas treats. I just made great spice-cookies with a Nutella-mix in the middle 🙂
If only I wasn’t allergic to hazelnuts, I would so make this. Not only does it look insanely delicious but the chocolate hazelnut bark is gorgeous!
I hope you have a Merry Christmas with your family Maria! 🙂
Found you on Food Gawker. Love the look and sound of this, but I’ve never seen hazelnut extract (but I’m sure I could find it). Do you think you could use Fra Angelico instead?
I bought hazelnut extract at Whole Foods, but Fra Angelico would work well too! Or you can even leave it out, I am sure it will still be tasty:)
Looks really wonderful maria. I have to say though, I’m a bit relieved that Christmas is over. I’ll be glad to get back to regular baking and cooking! 😀
Nutella on it’s own is amazing! How can anyone go wrong with a triple treat of hazelnuts?
This is a lovely diversion from the usual peppermint bark. Looks lovely!
The combination of chocolate and hazelnuts is one of my favorites. What a wonderful holiday treat!
enjoyed looking at them! 🙂
Merry Christmas Maria. Never made bark before, and yours looks amazing!
What a great twist on traditional peppermint bark. Merry Christmas!
Outrageous. Will include in my yearly bark making. I did add nuts to the chocolate and on top
