Cook vegetables in olive oil. Stir in garlic and cook.

Add dried bay leaves, cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, thyme, tomatoes, and vegetable broth.

Stir in rinsed lentils and season with salt and black pepper. Simmer, then puree.
