Easy Cilantro Lime Dressing

Making your own salad dressing at home might sound intimidating, but I promise homemade dressings are SO easy. You only need 10 minutes tops to make this Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing and it’s SO much better than any dressing you can buy at the grocery store. Our entire family loves this creamy dressing, it is one of those dressings we use on just about everything! It’s great on salads, tacos, burritos, grilled or roasted vegetables, chicken, fish, steak. The boys even love dipping their quesadillas in this dressing! You are going to want to have a jar in your fridge at all times.

Cilantro Lime Dressing Ingredients

  • Cilantro-one of my favorite herbs and the base of this delicious dressing.
  • Lime juice-cilantro and lime are a match made in heaven! Make sure you use fresh lime juice and not bottled for the freshest flavor.
  • Yogurt-Stonyfield yogurt makes the dressing super creamy! You can use plain whole milk yogurt or plain Greek yogurt, both work well in this recipe.
  • Olive oil-you need oil to help thin out the dressing. It also makes the dressing nice and rich.
  • Honey-adds the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the tangy and tart!
  • Garlic-garlic is always a good idea for salad dressing! Fresh is best, don’t use garlic powder.
  • Jalapeño-you don’t have to add jalapeño, but I like a little kick. The dressing isn’t spicy, just has a nice kick. Feel free to leave it out if you don’t like any heat.
  • Kosher salt-salt is the finishing touch!

How to Make Cilantro Lime Dressing

Like I mentioned earlier, this dressing couldn’t be any easier to make. All you have to do is put all of the ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend! It’s that easy!

Pour the dressing into a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid or container with a lid. The dressing will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Stonyfield Trip to Vermont

And now I want to talk about my recent trip to Stowe, Vermont with Stonyfield. We met some of the Stonyfield team when they came to Salt Lake City for Field Day and loved talking with them so when they invited me to Vermont I was so excited.

Stonyfield’s mission is to improve the health of our food, planet, and its people. Stonyfield’s co-founder,  Gary Hirshberg, spent the day with us and I loved learning about his story and how Stonyfield got started. You can listen to his full story here or read more on their website, it is fascinating.

How to make cilantro lime dressing

We visited two organic dairy farms and it was a big eye opener for me. Organic farming is a synergistic farming method that benefits the earth, cows, farmers, and consumers. It is a win-win for everyone. I loved talking with the farmers and their families. They work SO hard and have SO much passion for what they do. Even the kids were helping out on the farm and you could tell that they loved being part of the family business.

I also loved mingling with the cute cows. All of the cows had names and were treated like they were part of the family. Organic dairy cows are required to graze at least 120 days per year, have cage-free living conditions with access to the outdoors, and have at least 50% of their diet come from fresh pasture. Pasture grazing not only improves the quality of their milk, but they also enjoy healthier body weight, hoof, and joint health. Organic cows fertilize their own fields, churn up and aerate pasture with those healthy hooves, and enjoy a major role in the systems-based approach to farming.

Cilantro Lime Dressing with yogurt

I love Stonyfield yogurt because it is delicious to eat by the spoonful and great to use in recipes BUT I also love Stonyfield’s values. Stonyfield

  • supports the growth of organic
  • uses the best organic ingredients
  • sources from family farmers who use ecologically sustainable practices for the well-being of the planet
  • supports the humane treatment of the cows
  • offers fair economic return and seek to create long-term relationships with their farmers and suppliers
  • helps conventional farms transition to organic, even offering them monetary funds and technical assistance
  • works every day to reduce their carbon footprint

For more information about Stonyfield and organic dairy farming, go here. I loved learning more about Stonyfield, where my food comes from, and organic farming. It was a great trip and I told Josh we have to take the boys back for a family vacation. Vermont is SO beautiful and the people are so friendly…and the boys would love the cows too:)

Unbelievably delicious and so simple! I did use less lime juice and add an additional tsp. of honey.

Had it on a leftover turkey burger on bun with lettuce and pickles – good!

  2. flavours are perfect for me but there’s nothing creamy about it. The dressing has the same consistency as water.

    1. Agreedโ€ฆ although delicious.. it isnโ€™t creamy. Any thoughts on how to thicken it up ??

Brava! Just made this to go with your steak salad recipe (chicken for my non red meat eating daughter). I have been making my own salad dressings for years and years. Soooo much better than anything you can buy in the store, plus cheaper, plus much healthier. This is a winner. It will go into my rotation. Thanks so much!
