  1. Hello from Austin! If you haven’t already then Veracruz, Taco Deli and Torchy’s Tacos are a must! Love reading your blog btw!

  2. Austin taco recommendations – Veracruz All Natural is a must ; one of their locations is parked outside a great coffee place, Radio Coffee and Beer. I also recommend Valentina’s Tex-Mex BBQ (their tortillas are handmade – try the brisket tacos). A longtime place, Maria’s Taco Xpress, may be closing soon so this might be your last chance to go ; hard to miss – look for the wide open arms sculpture of Maria on top of the building on S Lamar.

  3. If you go to TacoDeli, go to the original location on Spyglass ; they remodeled and have more seating now. Plus, you’re across the street from the Spyglass entrance for the Barton Creek Greenbelt if you’re up for a hike/walk.

  4. Take a drive down to New Braunfels, and go to the Gristmill. It’s the coolest restaurant I’ve ever been to and the food was amazing! You won’t regret it! We live in Ontario,Canada and will be making the drive down there again this summer and going for dinner – it’s that good!

  5. It’s so fabulous that the kids get along well and that they all were having a good time – I remember playing with my cousins when I was younger – we’re not close now but we did have lots of fun. Caleb is an amazing little skier! He is doing so well! I don’t even know who’s left in the NCAA ….lol….I’ve lost track and was really bummed when Wisconsin lost – I was rooting for them.
    I love, love, love the picture of the cherry blossoms and the donuts look great – I need to find a donut place near us but so far the donuts just don’t taste good. I love the Easter tea spoons – they are so cute! Have fun in Austin – I’m not really reading anything interesting right now. I don’t think there will ever be a bad picture of your boys – they are so handsome and in a way I wish they weren’t growing up so fast – I miss baby Maxwell….lol….Have a great weekend!

  6. The bubbles must have been fun! It must have been nice and warm.  No one is wearing a jacket.  We haven’t gotten that kind of weather yet, in Sheboygan, WI. Wait, we did have some in February, but that was short-lived. March has been cold, rainy, and gloomy.   It’s hard to believe that you can show snow and flower blossoms in the same post! The artichoke pizza looks good.  The doughnuts look delicious.  We need to make some granola, too!

  7. Oh yeah, I mostly look down on PB&J sandwiches as the Rodney Dangerfield of all sandwiches, only the choice you make when no other choice can be had.  I had no idea that PB&J sandwiches were such a big thing in the NBA, but I don’t really follow sports all that well, anyway.  Now, I’m hungry for one!

    Although, one can up the ante on a PB&J by buying fancy bread, fancy peanut butter and homemade jelly.

  8. Bring an umbrella! I have yet to try the brisket tacos from Valentina’s (they are a food truck on Manchaca Road), but I’ve heard they are wonderful. Be prepared to wait an hour or so in line!

  9. Valentina’s  Tex -Mex BBQ on Manchaca in far South Austin is definitely worth the drive! Their queso is my favorite! Have fun!

  10. The photo of the kids is priceless. The joy, the sheer pleasure, I love it. I am readingThe Last Child by John Hart. It had me at page 1. It’s the first book of his I’ve read but will check out some of the others. Have fun in Austin. I’ve always wanted to visit there. Oh, that salad. A work of art.

  11. I do not think Ellen’s house is worth 45 million Josh! Not impressed. Very cold looking. I prefer something more cozy and warm. I do love Ellen though!

  12. Austin:
    Torchy’s Tacos
    Gordoughs (haven’t been there, but recommended by family who live there);
    Rudys (for BBQ)
    Kerby Lane (breakfast yummy)
    Amy’s Ice Cream

  13. A picture speaks a thousand words and the one of the kids and the giant bubble certainly does that! I love it 🙂
