About

Welcome to Two Peas and Their Pod.

I’m Maria and my husband is Josh. We are a great team, especially in the kitchen. We love creating new recipes, experimenting with new flavors, techniques, and sharing our creations with others.

224Food has always been an important part of my life. My father is a fantastic cook/baker. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of our times in the kitchen together. I love how food brings people together. My favorite place to gather is in the kitchen.

I grew up in a small town in central Illinois. I moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. I have a bachelor’s degree in Health Education/Promotion. I am currently a health educator for the state of Utah. I am very passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. I try to share healthy recipes on our blog, but I believe in having a healthy balance. I always save room for dessert.

Josh shares my passion for food, but in a different way. He appreciates good food, but he says he can “choke down” anything. He loves trying new recipes and mastering them. He is always up for a challenge. Josh grew up in Placerville, California. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Economics.

When we are not in the kitchen, we enjoy watching sports (my favorite is basketball, Josh prefers football), hiking, running, traveling, reading, movies, and of course eating. We live in Salt Lake City, Utah and love it. We are blessed to live in such a gorgeous place.

Dear Maria,

I’m so impressed with you! I’ve been reading your blog for several months, have tried several recipes and have told many people about your blog – especially my gourmet group. (We’ve been eating good food together for over 38 years now!) Keep up the good work! Maybe when we visit Steve and Kate in SLC we will be able to have the opportunity to spend some time with you. I understand you don’t live too far away from each other.

Love,

Rochelle Mooth

Hello!
I just found out about your blog through your guest post at Carrots n’ Cake. I just recently moved to SLC from Cincinnati, Ohio. Are ya’ll in SLC? If so, maybe we could chat sometime. I’d love to meet a fellow blogger and get to know some folks living here. I have a blog at http://www.chewingscenery.wordpress.com .
Thanks. Be well. Dig the blog.

Hi Maria & Josh,
I thank you so much for the Yogurt article and advice of making your own.
I purchased the yogurt machine and wow! so good and saves money, too.
I also use my yogurt in baking coffee cakes, using the yogurt instead of sour cream. Thanks, Cheri

I found you through The Pioneer Woman. Nice site! :)

Sarah February 10, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Hey there. I found your blog via Pioneer Woman and love what you’ve got going here! I read through some earlier posts (and this ‘about’ section) only to discover that our lives are way too similar! My husband and I got engaged in San Francisco the same weekend that you did (I was there for work, he flew out and surprised me)… he went to the U, I went to BYU and we live in SLC now. Anyway, I had to share. :) Thanks for the great blog!

I see you are vegetarian? I am from Mexico, just moved here to the States last year, and we have so many delicious vegetarian dishes back there, I had a blog long ago and when I was checking it today and hit the “see more blogs” button I found yours, and just loved it, I would like to share one of my favorite recipe drinks that maybe you will like, I have to say that its worth the process and its sooooo healthy! I highly recommend it!
