We went on a road trip to Idaho for the weekend. My grandpa is in the hospital so we drove up to Twin Falls to spend time with my grandpa. My dad drove out from Illinois-we were happy to see him. My grandpa is 95 and struggling with old age. He is a trooper and hanging in there.

We spent most of the weekend at the hospital with my grandpa and dad. We watched a lot of basketball-too bad Illinois lost in Double OT:( We really enjoyed talking to my grandpa and dad. It was fun listening to their stories and learning more about our family. Some of the stories I have heard many times, but they never get old. We had a lot of good laughs. My grandpa is still pretty sharp and witty.

National Food Bloggers Bake Sale

Post image for National Food Bloggers Bake Sale

by twopeas on March 12, 2010

I am thrilled to announce that I will be part of the first ever National Food Bloggers Bake Sale, which is part of the Great American Bake Sale. We are raising money for Share Our Strength (SOS), a national organization fighting to end childhood hunger in the United States.

Food bloggers from across the country will unite to support the cause by holding bake sales in their states. Readers will have the opportunity to taste the baked goods from their favorite food blogs at each state’s bake sale location.

Utah is going to have TWO bake sales, one in Salt Lake City and one in Orem. I am organizing the Salt Lake City location and Becky, from Utah loves Cupcakes, is organizing the Orem location. We are a great team and super excited for this event. If you live in Utah, we hope you will  come out and help us raise money for SOS.

The bake sales will take place on:

Saturday, April 17th, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Salt Lake City location-at Dan’s Market (1360 S Foothill Blvd)

Orem location- at Shirley J’s (15 East 400 South)

Thanks to Dan’s and Shirley J’s for hosting our bake sales. We really appreciate your support!

**If you are a Utah food blogger and would like to help, please email at: twopeasandtheirpod@gmail.com.

**If you would like to get involved in your state, click here to find out who to contact. **

For more information about Share Our Strength, visit their site.

If you live in Utah, mark your calendars! We hope to see you on April 17th! Come and taste some of your favorite food bloggers delicious treats!

What should Two Peas and Their Pod bake for the sale?  If you could taste one of our treats, what would you choose? Right now, I am thinking S’mores cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cinnadoodles. Any other suggestions?

I will be posting more details as the bake sale gets closer, so stay tuned! Have a great weekend everyone!

We don’t eat out very often. When we do, we usually support local restaurants. We have our favorites and sometimes it is nice to let someone else do the cooking:)  I don’t like chain restaurants or fast food-sometimes I wonder if they even serve real food:)   So when we were eating at our friends house [...]

Josh was out of town for a couple of days last week. I always hate it when he is gone, but there is one, and only one benefit-I can eat and bake with peanut butter:) The last time he was out of town, I made vegetable spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce-soooo good! This time [...]

I have always been a grapefruit lover. My grandpa lives in Arizona and used to send us big boxes of grapefruit. They were the best! My grandpa kept sending me boxes until I graduated college, so not only do I love eating grapefruit, but they also remind me of my grandpa. I love how food [...]

On Saturday, Josh went snowboarding with his friend. I wasn’t invited, not that I wanted to go, I hate the snow, cold, and scary, steep mountains:) I have tried skiing twice, but I am not a fan. I prefer to stay inside where it is warm. So I spent the day cooking and baking-that is [...]

Last week we had our good friend over to celebrate his birthday.  Josh cooked the creamy lemon chicken dinner by himself, so I offered to make dessert. I  baked a cake to keep things traditional.
We love citrus fruits-especially when they come in dessert form:) We usually do lemon or lime cakes, but we had an [...]

Creamy Lemon Chicken and Rice Recipe

It’s been a rough week. I hurt my neck and have been in extreme pain. I think it was a combination of sleeping on my neck wrong and too much Body Pump. I have been resting, using ice/heat, pain meds, etc. but it still hurts. Luckily, Josh has been pampering me. He broke his neck [...]
